Tax Analyst - Affirmative Position for Women
Job description
About the role
This role is responsible for owning the full technical and business response to Brazilian tax matters, translating legislation into defensible positions that protect and advance the company. You will lead internal tax consultancy, standing behind your opinions with clear reasoning and direct accountability for the outcomes they produce. The position requires you to own the complete tax litigation portfolio, coordinating strategy and execution across external counsel and internal stakeholders without ambiguity. You will run tax audits from initial notice to final outcome, controlling the evidence flow and protecting the company's interests at every stage. Success in this role means building a repeatable capability that turns tax risk into a managed, and even advantageous, part of business decisions. The work directly supports international growth, restructuring, and transfer pricing by establishing a rigorous domestic foundation. This is a hands-on role where your decisions on procedure, timing, and communication will materially shape the company's legal and financial trajectory.
Key facts
What you'll do
Lead internal tax consultancy on Brazilian legislation by answering the business questions on indirect and direct taxes, producing the technical position, and standing behind it with documented reasoning.
Own the tax litigation portfolio, administrative and judicial, building the technical thesis, drafting and coordinating impugnações and recursos with external counsel, and deciding where each dispute is best resolved administratively, in court, or through settlement programs such as transação tributária, editais, and amnesties.
Run tax audits from the first intimação to the outcome, controlling what is produced and what is not, managing the relationship with the auditor, and protecting the company's position through structured fact patterns and clear positions.
Support perícias judiciais and technical expert examinations, working with external advisors to align factual, accounting, and tax narratives.
Classify and defend tax contingencies, remote or possible or probable, with external counsel and auditors, and keep the portfolio view current for leadership so that risk is visible and defensible.
Identify and execute recovery and incentive opportunities, including credits, refunds, and planning positions, with quantified impact and clear documentation of assumptions and outcomes.
Translate tax into business language by writing memos and updates that a non-specialist can act on, flagging emerging legislation and case law early, and ensuring the right people hear about issues before they become problems.
Grow into international scope by engaging in cross-border restructuring projects, international tax legislation, and transfer pricing on live transactions rather than theoretical exercises.
Coordinate priorities when statutory deadlines, audit responses, and internal requests collide, making timely decisions and clearly communicating trade-offs to stakeholders.
Maintain quality and execution discipline by scoping work, surfacing blockers early, and managing dependencies with Legal, Accounting, FP&A, and Business Development.
Provide structured problem-solving on complex, ambiguous tax questions by breaking them into parts, testing hypotheses, and validating conclusions with data.
Champion transparent communication by issuing short written updates, stating reasoning explicitly, and avoiding surprises for leadership and external advisors.
Requirements
Law degree; this is a non-negotiable requirement for the role.
Fluent English is required to engage with external advisors, read primary sources, and contribute to cross-border initiatives where relevant.
Solid command of Brazilian tax legislation is mandatory; this role assumes deep, current knowledge as the baseline for every decision.
Hands-on experience in tax controversy, including judicial proceedings, administrative litigation, and audits (fiscalizações), with a track record of personally building arguments that changed outcomes.
Demonstrated execution and ownership, including scoping work, delivering on time, raising blockers early, and maintaining high quality without overcomplicating deliverables.
Structured problem-solving capacity to break large, ambiguous problems into parts and test solutions step by step.
Clear, transparent communication, with an emphasis on short written updates, explicit reasoning, and no surprises for stakeholders.
Analytical reasoning that validates positions with data and defends numbers confidently under scrutiny.
Strong time management and prioritization to balance statutory deadlines, audit responses, and internal requests while keeping stakeholders informed.
Commitment to working within the collaborative team structure that treats technical disagreement as part of the job and works daily with Legal, Accounting, FP&A, and Business Development.
Willingness to operate with integrity under confidential and contentious conditions, protecting the company's position in audits, litigation, and negotiations.
Nice to have
Law firm experience, especially in contentious tax environments, is preferred.
Knowledge of international tax legislation and how it interacts with Brazilian rules.
Experience in corporate restructuring and M&A, both domestic and cross-border.
Understanding of transfer pricing concepts, rules, and calculations.
Comfort using AI tools in technical and organizational work, with an interest in how they can improve tax analysis and communication.
