About the role
Wildlife Studios is actively searching for a Data Scientist to join our Insights team and play a central role in shaping the direction of our global gaming portfolio. In this capacity, the successful candidate will own the transformation of vast and complex player information into actionable strategic improvements that directly impact our titles. You will work in close partnership with product squads, taking ownership of the analytical questions that drive product decisions and iterating on the features that define player engagement. The role requires you to design and execute rigorous experiments and statistical tests that validate hypotheses and measure the true impact of game changes. You will examine intricate behavioral datasets to uncover patterns that inform product strategy, retention efforts, and monetization models at scale. Collaboration with engineers and product managers is a core responsibility, where you will leverage automation and custom tooling to solve specific business challenges efficiently. You will be instrumental in optimizing core game mechanics such as matchmaking, content personalization, and in-game economic systems through a lens of data integrity. Furthermore, you will integrate agentic AI and modern technical workflows into the analytical process, aiming to elevate team output and establish higher analytical standards across the organization.

What you'll do
- Design and implement controlled experiments and advanced statistical tests to drive iterative improvements in game features and player experience.
- Conduct deep examinations of complex player datasets to extract strategic insights that guide overarching product strategy, retention initiatives, and monetization models.
- Partner with engineering and product management teams to diagnose business challenges and develop solutions through the creation of automation and bespoke tooling.
- Analyze and optimize core game mechanics, including matchmaking algorithms, content personalization engines, and intricate economic systems.
- Evaluate and integrate agentic AI capabilities and modern technical workflows to enhance individual and team productivity and analytical rigor.
- Construct robust data products and scalable frameworks that empower informed decision-making processes across all game teams and stakeholders.
- Translate intricate behavioral data into clear, concise, and compelling recommendations for both technical and non-technical partners, ensuring alignment on strategic objectives.
- Champion the use of AI assistants and large language models to automate routine analytical tasks and improve personal efficiency in data processing.
- Maintain exceptional written communication skills to document findings meticulously and to facilitate effective communication with cross-functional teams.
- Lead the definition of data quality standards and best practices to ensure the reliability and accuracy of insights derived from player information.
Requirements
- Demonstrate practical experience with machine learning methodologies and applied statistics, with a specific focus on A/B testing frameworks and predictive modeling techniques.
- Exhibit a proven ability to translate complex behavioral data into clear, actionable recommendations for stakeholders who may not have a technical background.
- Show advanced proficiency in Python or R, as well as SQL, to enable independent data extraction, manipulation, and sophisticated analysis.
- Display a strong interest in leveraging AI assistants and large language models to automate tasks, streamline workflows, and boost personal efficiency.
- Possess strong written English skills to articulate analytical findings, document methodologies, and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Have a solid understanding of experimental design and the ability to interpret results to inform high-stakes product decisions.
- Bring experience working with large datasets and performing complex data manipulations in a programmatic environment.
- Show commitment to continuous learning and adapting to new analytical tools, methodologies, and technological advancements in the data science field.
