About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to become a , where you will collaborate with the Product Innovation Design team to shape the future of our accessories line. You will play a pivotal role in developing the design language for one of our newest and most dynamic categories. This position involves driving the creative vision from the initial concept stage through material sourcing and development, ultimately leading to the final execution alongside the Design Director. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of creativity and technical expertise, with a strong understanding of handbag construction and leathercraft, as well as a keen commercial sense.

What you'll do

• Conduct continuous trend analysis to assess marketplace movements and translate these insights into product concepts that resonate with the Reformation brand and its customers.
• Collaborate in the development of seasonal themes and collections under the guidance of the Design Director.
• Maintain a thorough understanding of the Reformation aesthetic and ensure it is reflected in the product designs.
• Present sketches and assortments on a quarterly and monthly basis, contributing to the creation of design pitch decks.
• Identify and research key materials, trims, and hardware trends to enhance the core and novelty material libraries.
• Collaborate with the Product Development team to create comprehensive Tech Packs and communicate effectively with factories to bring designs to fruition.
• Provide mockups or salpas as required to support the design process.
• Design and specify decorative and functional hardware components.
• Lead design correction meetings, ensuring timely responses to feedback in collaboration with the Product Development team.
• Work closely with merchandising to create a balanced and compelling assortment that aligns with the line plan.
• Stay informed about current business trends and propose reactive chase designs as needed.
• Partner with Merchandising and the Design Director to develop CADs and monthly color assortments.
• Regularly update and manage design decks to reflect the most current information.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Design or a related field is preferred.
• 3 to 5 years of experience in design within the luxury or contemporary women's handbag sector, with internships or entry-level roles considered.
• Familiarity with leather materials is advantageous.
• An excellent eye for color and materials, along with meticulous attention to detail.
• Experience in hardware or jewelry design is a plus but not mandatory.
• Strong sketching and CAD skills are essential.
• Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator is required.
• Highly organized with exceptional time management abilities and the capacity to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Practical notes

• This position requires a hybrid work schedule, with four days spent in our New York City office.
• The anticipated salary range for this role is between $80,000 and $108,000, depending on various factors such as experience, skills, and qualifications.
• This role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on company performance, departmental goals, and individual contributions.
