About the role
You will own the complete lifecycle of die cutting operations on a large format press in a high volume print and packaging environment. This role demands strict adherence to company policies while safeguarding quality, machine speed, and customer specifications at all times. You will partner closely with operators and leads to ensure every production run meets the required standard without compromise. Your focus will be on safety, efficiency, and precision as you manage the setup, execution, and completion of each job ticket. You are responsible for maintaining the integrity of the production line by identifying and isolating defects before they progress. This position requires a proactive mindset where you solve problems at the machine to protect the order and the customer. You will be a key contributor to the operational excellence of the facility through your attention to detail and reliability.

What you'll do
Perform press make ready procedures to prepare the cutting press for new product sheets, including setting the feeder, locking up the die, and configuring the stripper and blanker.
Assist operators or leads with the loading of heavy cutting dies, weighing approximately 150 lbs, into the cutting press using safe handling practices.
Inspect the quality of every production load by checking random sheets from each cut run to verify conformance to standards.
Flag and isolate any poorly produced materials immediately when cutting problems are encountered, ensuring defective loads are clearly tagged.
Execute press corrections promptly when issues arise, resolving the root cause before authorizing the continuation of the order.
Remove cut loads from the press efficiently by using an electric hand truck to transport materials to the next stage of production.
Maintain detailed written records of production metrics, including waste, production time, and waiting time for review and analysis.
Run the press at an efficient pace while balancing speed with quality to meet customer standards and throughput goals.
Monitor the condition of the die and tooling, communicating wear or damage to the lead to prevent unplanned downtime.
Support the team by rotating through stations as needed to cover breaks, maintain workflow, and uphold production targets.
Verify that all job ticket instructions are understood and followed precisely for each order to eliminate errors.
Ensure the work area is organized and clear of debris to promote safety and streamline the movement of materials and equipment.
Collaborate with quality personnel to address repeat defects and implement corrective actions that reduce waste.
Demonstrate flexibility in scheduling and tasking to accommodate urgent orders and changing production priorities.
Requirements
Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English to communicate effectively with team members and follow job instructions.
Must possess basic math skills to accurately measure, count, and record production quantities and tolerances.
Must have knowledge of the location and proper use of all safety devices in the press area at all times.
Must be coordinated and capable of performing job tasks safely and quickly to meet production demands.
Must be able to lift, position, and move dies weighing approximately 150 lbs as part of routine job duties.
Must comply with all company policies, procedures, and quality standards without exception.
Must maintain a clean and orderly workstation to support safety, efficiency, and continuous operations.
Must report any injuries, near misses, or unsafe conditions immediately to a supervisor or lead.
Nice to have
Working knowledge of cutting press operations and setup procedures is preferred.
Experience with Bobst Cutting Press equipment is an advantage for faster onboarding.
Practical notes
This is a full-time position.
Applicants must be able to work the scheduled shifts as required by the facility.
Travel is not expected as the role is based at a single Philadelphia location.
