About the role
The owns the full scope of nutrition care for pediatric and adolescent eating disorder patients within a fully virtual treatment environment. This role requires you to act as the primary nutrition expert on the clinical care team, guiding families through the complexities of feeding challenges and nutritional restoration. You will leverage evidence-based practice to translate complex nutrition science into compassionate, actionable guidance delivered via telehealth. A core part of this position involves partnering directly with families to coach them in implementing structured meal plans that support their child's recovery journey. You will collaborate daily with therapists, physicians, and mentors to ensure that nutrition interventions align with the broader treatment goals. This position demands a high level of autonomy, clinical judgment, and emotional resilience when working with vulnerable populations in a remote setting. Ultimately, you will be responsible for driving measurable improvements in patient outcomes by addressing the behavioral and nutritional roots of eating disorders.

What you'll do
- Conduct comprehensive virtual nutrition assessments to establish a baseline understanding of the patient's medical history, eating behaviors, and relationship with food.
- Prescribe and adapt individualized meal plans using Equip's specialized feeding philosophy, ensuring they meet the specific caloric and nutritional needs of growing children and adolescents.
- Facilitate guided exposure to fear and challenge foods, helping patients and families navigate anxiety-provoking eating situations in a structured and supportive manner.
- Translate complex nutrition recommendations into clear, accessible language for caregivers, ensuring they feel confident and capable in supporting the recovery process.
- Serve as the central point of communication regarding nutrition for the patient, articulating updates and concerns to therapists, physicians, and peer mentors.
- Uphold the integrity of the treatment program by consistently echoing the care team's directives, presenting a unified and cohesive approach to the family.
- Monitor patient progress on a weekly basis, updating treatment plans to reflect changes in weight, eating behaviors, and therapeutic goals within the electronic medical record.
- Reassess nutritional and metabolic needs over the course of treatment, making timely adjustments to meal plans and interventions as the patient recovers.
- Deliver psychoeducation focused on cognitive behavioral principles, targeting irrational beliefs about food, weight, shape, and nutrition that sustain disordered eating patterns.
- Build a strong therapeutic alliance with the family unit, establishing trust, maintaining appropriate boundaries, and fostering collaboration with the wider clinical team.
- Ensure all patient interactions and clinical decisions are documented thoroughly and accurately in Equip's electronic medical record in strict compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.
- Provide 30 hours per week of direct patient care, including initial evaluations and follow-up sessions, distributed across the treatment week.
- Commit to a minimum of 16 hours of direct patient care after 2 pm in your designated working time zone to support afternoon and evening appointments.
- Attend mandatory team meetings and professional development sessions to maintain clinical excellence and alignment with organizational standards.
Requirements
- Possess a bachelor's degree or equivalent coursework accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND).
- Hold an active Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) license, with eating disorder experience strongly preferred as a core qualification.
- Demonstrate prior exposure to family-based eating disorder treatment approaches, while not mandatory, is highly valued for success in this role.
- Manage a high-volume caseload of up to 80 active patients, with the understanding that each case may require engagement over a treatment duration of up to 52 weeks.
- Exhibit advanced communication and collaboration skills when interacting with diverse professional teams and caregivers from varied backgrounds.
- Bring previous experience working within interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure seamless coordination of care.
- Maintain exceptional organizational abilities and a results-driven mindset to meet clinical targets and administrative expectations.
- Balance business objectives with clinical priorities, ensuring that operational efficiency does not compromise the quality of patient care.

- Be prepared to provide detailed justifications for clinical decisions during chart reviews and quality assurance audits.
Nice to have
- Previous experience utilizing telehealth platforms to deliver clinical services remotely.
- Familiarity with evidence-based treatments such as Family-Based Treatment (FBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for eating disorders.
- Knowledge of pediatric growth and developmental nutrition specific to adolescence and early adulthood.
- Training in crisis intervention or the ability to identify and escalate acute medical risk in remote settings.
Practical notes
Working Hours
Equip allows Patient Scheduling, Monday
Friday, between 8am-8pm in working timezone.
- Ability to provide 30 hours a week of direct patient care, including new patients and follow-up sessions.
- Ability to commit to a minimum of 16 hours of direct patient care after 2pm in your working time zone throughout the week.
- Ability to commit to working until 8pm two evenings per week (you choose which evenings).
- Ability to attend mandatory meetings, training, and professional development on an ongoing basis.
