About the role
Prex is seeking an IT and Operational Risk Analyst based in Montevideo to join their team on a full-time basis. This role focuses on identifying, assessing, and managing risks related to information technology systems and day-to-day business operations across the organization. The analyst will work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure that risk controls are effective and aligned with broader organizational objectives and strategic priorities. The position requires a detail-oriented professional who can balance technical understanding with business awareness while contributing to a culture of continuous improvement in risk management practices.

What you'll do
- Evaluate IT systems and operational processes to identify potential vulnerabilities and areas of risk exposure across the entire organization and its business units
- Develop and maintain comprehensive risk assessment frameworks that capture both technical and business-related risk factors in a structured and repeatable manner
- Coordinate with department heads and operational managers to gather detailed information about workflows and document existing control measures currently in place
- Prepare detailed risk reports and visual dashboards that summarize key findings for leadership and cross-functional teams on a regular cadence
- Monitor regulatory requirements and industry standards relevant to IT and operational risk management practices to ensure ongoing compliance and awareness
- Support incident response activities by analyzing root causes thoroughly and recommending corrective actions designed to prevent recurrence of similar issues
- Conduct periodic risk reviews across all business areas and update risk registers promptly to reflect changes in the operating environment
- Collaborate with the IT team to test and validate disaster recovery and business continuity plans under simulated scenarios
- Assist in the design and implementation of risk mitigation strategies that balance cost-effectiveness with adequate protection levels for critical assets
- Facilitate training sessions and awareness programs to help staff members understand their individual roles in managing operational risk effectively
- Maintain documentation of all risk assessments, control tests, and mitigation plans in a centralized and accessible repository for audit purposes
- Provide guidance and recommendations to business units on how to strengthen their risk posture through improved controls and processes
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, business administration, or a related field from an accredited institution
- Demonstrated experience working in risk analysis, IT governance, or a similar analytical capacity within a corporate environment
- Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, networking fundamentals, and common enterprise software platforms used in business operations
- Familiarity with established risk management methodologies and frameworks such as ISO 31000, NIST, or COSO
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and persuasively to non-technical audiences and business stakeholders
- Proficiency in data analysis and the ability to interpret quantitative risk metrics to support informed decision-making
- Experience with documenting processes, maintaining organized risk documentation, and using structured methodologies for tracking risk items
- Analytical mindset with a strong commitment to accuracy, thoroughness, and attention to detail in all deliverables
- Proven ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced operational setting
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare clear and concise reports for diverse audiences
Nice to have

- Knowledge of Uruguayan regulatory frameworks that are directly applicable to IT and operational risk management
- Familiarity with GRC governance risk and compliance software platforms and related tools used in the industry
- Professional certification in risk management such as CRISC, CGEIT, or ISO 31000 Lead Risk Manager
- Experience with automation tools or scripting languages that can streamline risk reporting and data collection tasks

Practical notes
- This is a full-time position located in the Montevideo office with regular in-person attendance expected as part of the work arrangement
