Midlife Registered Dietitian (Contract)
Job description
About the role
This role centers on delivering synchronous, one-on-one virtual nutrition care to individuals navigating the physiological and lifestyle transitions of midlife, perimenopause, and menopause. As a registered dietitian within the Pomelo network, you will serve as the primary clinical expert guiding patients through complex metabolic and hormonal shifts. You will own the full virtual visit experience, translating evidence-based nutrition science into personalized, real-time strategies that drive symptom relief and sustainable behavior change. This position demands strong clinical judgment, autonomy, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of care within a virtual environment. Ultimately, you will help build a specialized, high-quality network dedicated to addressing the unique nutritional and hormonal needs of this specific demographic.
What you'll do
- Conduct synchronous video visits with patients navigating midlife, perimenopause, and menopause transitions, delivering real-time nutrition counseling and support.
- Provide one-on-one virtual nutrition care via phone and video calls to facilitate meaningful lifestyle change and enhance patients' overall wellbeing and quality of life.
- Work closely with patients across a multi-week program format, providing structured support designed to achieve measurable symptom improvement and sustained behavior change specifically for individuals experiencing perimenopause.
- Maintain timely, accurate, and comprehensive documentation for every patient interaction within Pomelo's designated systems and workflows.
- Strictly follow all applicable clinical, documentation, privacy, quality, and compliance standards governing visits conducted through the Pomelo platform and telehealth regulations.
- Utilize telehealth platforms, video conferencing tools, and electronic documentation systems proficiently to deliver a seamless and high-standard virtual care experience.
- Exercise strong clinical judgment to make autonomous, evidence-based decisions during patient visits, ensuring safety and efficacy in your recommendations.
- Work independently to assess patient needs, formulate hypotheses, and implement appropriate, individualized nutrition interventions without direct supervision.
- Adapt care plans dynamically based on patient progress, feedback, and evolving health goals, ensuring interventions remain relevant and effective.
- Support patient adherence through motivational interviewing strategies and tailored behavioral coaching, addressing the psychological and practical barriers of midlife change.
- Ensure all documentation reflects best practices specific to metabolic health, bone health (osteopenia/osteoporosis), and gut health concerns common in this population.
- Contribute to a positive, supportive patient experience that emphasizes empathy, practical guidance, and non-judgmental care.
- Align your clinical practice with Pomelo's overarching mission to improve health outcomes for mothers and babies by addressing foundational nutritional health during critical life stages.
Requirements
- National certification as a registered dietitian (RD) or registered dietitian/nutritionist (RDN) with an active, unexpired license to practice specifically in the state of Texas.
- A minimum of 3 years of documented, hands-on experience providing evidence-based nutrition therapy for patients diagnosed with or at risk for metabolic syndrome.
- A minimum of 3 years of documented experience delivering evidence-based nutrition therapy focused on weight loss, body composition changes, and related metabolic health outcomes.
- A minimum of 3 years of documented experience providing evidence-based nutrition therapy for patients with osteopenia, osteoporosis, or other bone health concerns.
- A minimum of 3 years of documented experience providing evidence-based nutrition therapy for patients with gut health concerns, including but not limited to bloating, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), and complex elimination diets.
- A minimum of 3 years of documented experience providing evidence-based nutrition therapy for patients following plant-forward eating patterns, plant-based diets, and individuals adhering to anti-inflammatory dietary protocols.
- Demonstrated comfort and proficiency using a variety of telehealth platforms, video conferencing tools, and electronic health or documentation systems.
- Strong clinical judgment and the demonstrated ability to exercise autonomy and sound decision-making during independent patient visits.
- Willingness to undergo Pomelo's credentialing, background screening, and verification processes as a prerequisite for network participation.
