Technical Marketing & Partnerships Lead
Job description
About the role
This position is responsible for defining and owning the technical marketing and partnership strategy that drives manufacturer awareness and trust for Overview.ai. The hire will serve as the primary technical voice in the manufacturing and machine vision ecosystem, translating complex inspection capabilities into practical, vendor-neutral guidance. They will own the end-to-end execution of trade show presence, from strategy and logistics to on-site demonstration and follow-up, ensuring each event generates measurable pipeline. The role requires building a repeatable framework for community engagement across forums, Reddit communities, and industry hubs to establish Overview as a trusted resource. Close collaboration with business development and sales engineering teams is essential to convert event and community activity into tracked opportunities and revenue. This is a foundational role that will shape how Overview is discovered and perceived outside of digital channels. The successful candidate will operate with autonomy, building the function from scratch while maintaining direct alignment with company leadership.
Key facts
What you'll do

- Establish and grow referral pipelines by forming partnerships with industry associations and trade organizations to generate trusted introductions.
- Create and sustain an independent community presence on overview.ai, Reddit communities such as r/PLC and r/computervision, and the automate.org forum to engage practitioners directly.
- Develop a technical voice that leads with vendor-neutral, useful guidance, openly disclosing affiliations while answering real inspection and controls questions without a sales engineer present.
- Demonstrate the product live at events and customer visits, running GPU-powered camera systems and edge inference to showcase accuracy, speed, and operator experience.
- Track and analyze every community, partner, and event activity in HubSpot, cutting underperforming initiatives and amplifying those that drive influenced pipeline.
- Partner closely with Business Development, Vision Sales Engineers, and leadership to ensure marketing activities convert into booked meetings and revenue.

- Represent Overview in technical discussions with integrators, controls engineers, and plant teams, building credibility through depth rather than slides alone.
- Stand up new programs and processes from scratch when existing structures are absent, iterating quickly based on observed results and stakeholder feedback.
- Maintain detailed playbooks for show logistics, lead handling, and community engagement, ensuring consistency as the function scales.
- Coordinate with product and engineering teams to gather customer insights from the field and translate them into messaging and positioning updates.
- Ensure all external communications clearly disclose relationships with technology partners while preserving an educational, non-sales tone.
- Initiate and manage joint activities with named technology partners and systems integrators to expand reach and credibility in target markets.
Requirements
- Possess technical fluency in machine vision or manufacturing gained through hands-on customer-facing roles such as applications engineer, field application engineer, sales engineer, or systems integrator.
- Demonstrate the ability to run a live product demo, scope an inspection or integration use case, and hold credible conversations with engineers and plant teams without a sales engineer present.
- Bring a minimum of 3 to 5 years of customer-facing experience in machine vision, manufacturing automation, robotics, or industrial software.
- Have a documented playbook from previous trade show or community programs, including examples of how you defined success and tracked pipeline.
- Show a proven capacity to build programs from zero without a formal playbook, team, or clear scope, and to become productive rapidly.
- Write clearly for engineering audiences, producing vendor-neutral, credible content that helps practitioners solve problems rather than promotes features.
- Exhibit a coachable mindset, adapting to the team's existing processes while contributing thoughtful improvements and best practices.
- Commit to regular travel across North America to shows, customer sites, and partner organizations, approximately 30% during the first two months and 25% on an ongoing basis.
Nice to have

- Prior involvement with professional communities, forums, or associations related to automation, controls, or manufacturing.
- Familiarity with GPU-powered computer vision systems, edge inference hardware, and deployment considerations for large device fleets.
- Experience managing multi-regional events and partnerships across North America and Europe.
- Background in curriculum development or training for technical audiences in automated inspection or computer vision.
Practical notes
This role requires regular travel across North America to industry shows, customer facilities, and partner organizations, with higher travel expectations during the initial two-month ramp period. There may be additional requirements for visa support documentation should external hiring necessitate such processes. No fixed hour schedule is specified, reflecting the demands of event-driven workflows and global show calendars.
