Software Engineering Lead / Engineering Manager

The role supports the organization's growth by adding leadership to manage engineering teams and drive the execution of world-class industrial AI products.
This position is based in Taipei and operates as a full-time engagement. The compensation package ranges from 160,000 to 180,000 USD per year, complemented by equity and comprehensive benefits. The successful candidate will lead a critical global engineering hub, working in partnership with teams across Asia, Latin America, and the United States.
Responsibilities
Roadmap Execution
You will collaborate with executive leadership to prioritize and manage the technical roadmap for current and next-generation AI vision products. This involves translating manufacturing requirements into actionable software initiatives that enhance inspection capabilities and operational efficiency.
Team Leadership and Development
You will lead, motivate, and develop a team of remote and hybrid engineers, including cross-site collaboration with colleagues in Brazil. You will foster a culture of excellence and ownership, aligning very bright, high-performing individuals in a fast-paced startup environment.
Release and Process Management
You will establish and maintain release structures, oversee sprint management, and track engineering performance metrics. These efforts will ensure predictable, high-quality deliveries that meet production demands.
Requirements Definition and Communication
You will define technical requirements, set context, and establish priorities for the engineering organization. You will also report progress to leadership and cross-functional teams to maintain alignment on objectives.
Cross-Time-Zone Collaboration
You will work seamlessly across multiple time zones, including teams in Brazil, Taiwan, and the US West Coast. This requires flexibility and strong coordination skills to maintain productivity and communication.
Travel
The role includes periodic travel to support team members and to engage with customers on-site, ensuring that factory deployments and validations are executed effectively.

Qualifications
You must possess a minimum of 3 years of experience managing a team of software or firmware engineers within a high-growth company. You should bring 7 or more years of professional work experience in software development, with a strong track record of delivering production software products. Ideally, your background includes embedded systems, computer vision, or industrial automation.
You must demonstrate strong technical depth and the ability to understand and engage with complex technical details, even when not directly implementing the work. Experience in setting up release structures, managing sprints, and measuring engineering outcomes is essential. You should have a history of defining technical requirements and communicating priorities to leadership and teams.
You are a self-starter who is comfortable working across remote teams, managing ambiguity, and making decisions with incomplete information. Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal, are required.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience creating processes in fast-moving startup environments is highly valued. Proficiency in Mandarin and direct experience working in China are considered advantageous.
