About the role
The ai owns the automated test system that the entire engineering organization ships against, ensuring that nightly end-to-end runs against the main branch are reliable and trustworthy. This role is accountable for the reliability of releases because the automation directly gates every deployment. You will design, build, and operate the shared test infrastructure end-to-end, covering software pipelines, CI/CD orchestration, and physical hardware labs. This is a build-and-operate position at the intersection of automation software and physical test hardware. You eliminate flakiness and make the test system fast, deterministic, and robust so that every engineering squad can ship with confidence. Unlike squad-based SDET roles, you own the platform and frameworks that enable those tests rather than the tests themselves.

What you'll do
Own the nightly E2E system by designing, building, and operating fully automated end-to-end pipelines that run every night against our main and beta branches, driving synthetic video into real NVIDIA Jetson devices, triggering on-device inference, and validating the inference results through PLC and physical outputs.
Wire CI/CD test orchestration and release gating into our regular release cadence and code-freeze week so that the claim "the build is green" is trustworthy across the entire organization.
Champion test health as a product by building detection, quarantine, triage, and observability mechanisms that keep a large automated suite reliable, parallelized, deterministic, and fast at scale.
Stand up and scale the shared physical test infrastructure, including environmental chambers, device testbeds, hardware labs, and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) setups that simulate factory conditions and stress-test real camera systems.
Own the automated validation of the physical signal path before units ship, covering PLC communication (Profinet and EtherNet-IP), digital I/O, and HDMI or display outputs, as well as production bring-up automation that verifies every device against specification.
Provide frameworks, fixtures, harnesses, and device pools that act as a force multiplier for quality across the organization, enabling squad SDETs to build their tests on a stable shared foundation.
Chase failures across physical hardware, custom baseboards, Linux OS kernels, local network protocols such as TCP/IP and RTSP, and edge Docker containers, turning each incident into a durable automated regression guard.
Drive continuous improvement of the test platform by analyzing trends, removing bottlenecks, and enhancing performance, reliability, and debuggability without disrupting release schedules.
Maintain strict compatibility with NVIDIA Jetson ecosystems and similar resource-constrained embedded Linux systems, ensuring tests run accurately in constrained environments.
Collaborate closely with manufacturing, quality, and firmware teams to align test objectives with production requirements and field conditions.
Requirements
5+ years in test automation, SDET, or software engineering, with a proven track record of owning an automated test system end-to-end at a Senior or Staff level.
Expert proficiency in Python for building automation frameworks, device-interaction tooling, and test harnesses that integrate with physical systems.
Deep hands-on experience with CI/CD systems such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or GitLab CI, focusing on building test pipelines and release gates rather than merely consuming them.
A demonstrated history of keeping large automated test suites reliable through flaky-test management, parallelization, deterministic fixtures, and robust test observability.
Hands-on experience with the NVIDIA Jetson ecosystem or similar resource-constrained embedded Linux systems, including device boot, inference workflows, and system-level debugging.
Hands-on experience with industrial automation and industrial network protocols including PLC, EtherNet-IP, and related industrial I/O, as well as hardware I/O involving digital I/O, HDMI, and display outputs.
Professional experience with, or a strong passion for, using AI agent tools to architect solutions and solve difficult technical problems efficiently in complex test environments.
Excellent problem-solving skills with an independent ownership mindset and the discipline to drive investigations from initial symptom to root cause and permanent remediation.
Practical notes
This role is based in Taipei and requires on-site presence in the hardware lab and production floor. There may be occasional travel within the region for hardware validation or supply-chain visits, and roles requiring work in regulated environments may involve visa sponsorship considerations. The position operates within standard full-time hours and is expected to support nightly release cadences, including occasional after-hours debugging when critical issues arise.
