Operations Generalist

About the role

You will own the full setup of our first Mexican operations hub in Guadalajara, designing systems where none exist. This role demands that you build the office, the inventory hub, the shipping workflow, and the vendor relationships from the ground up. You will personally handle receiving, packing, and preparing devices for shipment while also managing the end-to-end customs and freight process. Expect to write the first versions of every standard operating procedure for functions that have never been formalized before. You will collaborate directly with Finance and Sales on invoicing, order forecasting, and shipment confirmations to keep the business aligned. You will be the primary point of contact for onboarding new Mexico-based hires as the team begins to scale. When a process breaks or a tool fails, you will step in to stabilize it, even if it falls outside your initial job description. This position is for someone who prefers to build the plane while flying it and who thrives in environments with high ambiguity.

What you'll do

Coordinate the selection, negotiation, and setup of the first Guadalajara office space, including internet, security, furniture, and local vendors.

Manage the entire receiving process, logging every shipment, verifying contents, and confirming that inventory matches purchase orders.

Physically receive, inspect, and track all incoming devices, ensuring each unit is accurately logged in the inventory system.

Personalize and configure devices, then securely pack and prepare them for outbound shipment with correct documentation.

Design and implement the customs and freight process from scratch, selecting and managing brokers and forwarders.

Set up and maintain the Cin7 inventory system, ensuring counts, movements, and adjustments remain accurate on a daily basis.

Act as the main liaison between Finance and Sales, handling invoices, order forecasting, and shipment confirmations with timely updates.

Own the shipping workflow, including label generation, carrier selection, tracking, and proof of delivery collection.

Write clear, actionable Standard Operating Procedures for all operations tasks that currently lack documentation.

Support the growth of the Mexico team by assisting in the onboarding of new hires and helping them navigate early processes.

Troubleshoot unexpected issues in the warehouse, at customs, or with vendors, stepping in to resolve them even if they are not part of your core responsibilities.

Adapt quickly to shifting priorities, jumping between operational tasks, system setups, and ad hoc requests as business needs change.

Maintain high standards for accuracy, safety, and cleanliness in the office and warehouse environments.

Communicate progress, blockers, and metrics to leadership in a concise and structured manner, using data where possible.

Requirements

Have a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in operations, logistics, warehouse, or supply chain roles.

Possess a proven track record of actually performing operational work, including packing boxes, tracking inventory, and coordinating shipments.

Thrive in situations with significant ambiguity and limited structure, preferring to rely on your judgment rather than an established playbook.

Be comfortable operating for an extended period as the sole operations professional without direct day-to-day supervision.

Demonstrate fluency in both spoken and written English and Spanish, with the ability to communicate clearly with diverse stakeholders.

Be based in or near Guadalajara and able to work onsite with a consistent, reliable presence in the office and warehouse.

Have the legal right to work in Mexico without requiring sponsorship for this position.

Be willing to perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting, carrying, and organizing inventory in a warehouse setting.

Possess strong attention to detail and accuracy, particularly in inventory management, data entry, and documentation.

Nice to have

Direct experience with Cin7 or similar inventory and ERP tools for managing stock and workflows.

Background in imports, customs procedures, or cross-border freight management.

History of setting up an office, warehouse, or new market presence from a completely zero baseline.

Familiarity with hardware, industrial technology, robotics, or Internet of Things devices.

Experience working within fast-paced, high-growth startup environments where roles evolve quickly.

Basic understanding of financial processes such as invoicing, purchase orders, and shipment reconciliation.

Ability to create and maintain documentation in both English and Spanish when necessary.

Practical notes

This role requires onsite presence in Guadalajara on a full-time basis.

You must be available to work during standard business hours and respond promptly to operational issues as they arise.

Travel within the Guadalajara region may be required to visit vendors, warehouses, or client sites as the business develops.

Candidates must meet all legal requirements for employment in Mexico under local labor regulations.
