Applications Manager
Job description
About the role
Overview.ai http://Overview.ai is one of the fastest growing US startups in the AI space. Overview.ai http://Overview.ai is bringing the cutting edge of AI computer vision to manufacturing - solving inspection problems that were previously not solvable with traditional machine vision. We're a full-stack company: we deploy GPU-powered cameras on production lines, run inference on the edge, and operate a platform that supports large fleets of devices deployed across the world. We're growing extremely fast. Our customers love the product because it works - high accuracy, fast deployment, and an operator-friendly experience that makes real factory rollouts possible (not just pilots). This Applications Manager role is centered on execution at scale: you will own the end-to-end deployment of our solutions, lead a technical field team, and convert successful deployments into expanding revenue and visible customer outcomes. If you thrive in high-tempo manufacturing environments, you will recognize the pace and enjoy building a world-class deployment engine rather than getting buried by firefighting.
Key facts
What you'll do
Drive deployment outcomes at scale by owning schedule, staffing, readiness, execution, and stabilization across multiple factories and lines.
Lead deployments to the finish line by achieving stable inspections, meeting acceptance criteria, and handing off clear responsibilities to customer operations.
Build repeatable playbooks that reduce time-to-production and increase customer self-sufficiency through standardized processes.
Lead and grow a high-performance field team of applications engineers and technicians across regions with clear hiring, training, and performance standards.
Set and enforce execution standards including daily and weekly cadence, defined escalation paths, quality documentation, and measurable quality bars.
Coach your team to remain fast, calm, and effective under pressure, especially when production lines are on the clock and issues are critical.
Be the on-the-ground leader with customer stakeholders across process, quality, automation, and factory management to align people and priorities.
Manage scope ruthlessly but professionally to protect outcomes, prevent scope creep, and keep projects moving efficiently.
Drive urgency by aligning customer resources, line access, sample parts, and decision-making so deployments do not stall due to waiting.
Create the operational infrastructure that enables scale through onboarding and training frameworks, checklists, commissioning templates, project dashboards, post-mortems, and continuous improvement loops.
Track what matters by measuring deployment cycle time, blockers, time-to-stability, acceptance rate, and expansion readiness to guide decisions.
Translate field pain into product improvements by feeding back issues and opportunities for better diagnostics, clearer workflows, installation standards, tooling, documentation, and self-serve capabilities.
Work closely with global engineering and product teams to push changes that remove recurring friction and accelerate future deployments.
Ensure deployments become predictable with faster ramp, fewer surprises, clear ownership, and a stable, trusted process.
Build customer trust in Overview.ai to enable scaling to more lines, more factories, and more expansion through reliable execution and visible results.
Requirements
Must have a proven track record of leading complex, multi-site technical deployments in manufacturing environments with measurable results.
Demonstrate strong program and project management ability by running multiple workstreams, prioritizing ruthlessly, and keeping diverse stakeholders aligned under pressure.
Show experience in leading teams, including hiring, training, performance management, and developing strong individual contributors.
Exhibit exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills that span factory floor operators, customer executives, and global cross-functional teams.
Display high ownership, high discipline, and high energy, driving outcomes proactively without waiting to be told what to do.
Be fluent in both Mandarin and English, with strong written and spoken abilities to coordinate effectively with global teams and customer executives.
Have the ability to navigate ambiguity, incomplete information, and shifting constraints without losing momentum or clarity of outcomes.
Comfortably manage rapid, high-pressure environments where production delays have direct business impact and decisions must be made quickly.
Comfortably work directly with hardware, edge computing devices, and AI-assisted inspection concepts in a manufacturing context.
Commit to strict timelines and on-site presence in Nantong, China, with the flexibility to support international deployments as needed.
Nice to have
Experience in high-tempo environments that demand speed, precision, and reliability.
Familiarity with AI inspection, machine vision, and automation deployments in industrial settings.
Ability to operate comfortably in situations with incomplete information and evolving requirements while maintaining delivery momentum.
Practical notes
This role is full-time based in Nantong, China. The position requires significant on-site presence at customer factories in and around Nantong, as well as occasional travel within China and to international sites when supporting global deployments. Travel may include short-notice trips to resolve critical issues and to train local teams. A valid passport and readiness for international travel when required are essential. Candidates must be eligible for necessary work visas and able to meet standard deployment schedules, including occasional extended hours during critical project milestones. There are no explicit compensation details provided in this source material; candidates should expect compensation to be discussed directly with hiring leadership as part of the offer process. Applicants should be prepared for a rigorous selection process focused on real-world deployment execution and leadership capability in fast-moving manufacturing environments.
