What you'll do
- Develop and implement comprehensive safety programs that comply with federal, state, and local regulations, ensuring a safe working environment for all employees.
- Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions to mitigate risks.
- Lead safety training sessions and workshops for employees at all levels to promote awareness and adherence to safety protocols.
- Collaborate with project managers and field supervisors to ensure safety measures are integrated into all phases of project planning and execution.
- Investigate accidents and incidents to determine root causes, documenting findings and recommending improvements to prevent future occurrences.
- Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training sessions, and incident reports, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for safety-related inquiries, providing guidance and support to employees and management.
- Monitor industry trends and best practices in safety management, incorporating relevant strategies into Martinconcrete's safety programs.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging employee feedback and participation in safety initiatives.
- Coordinate with external agencies and regulatory bodies during inspections and audits, ensuring that all safety standards are met.
- Prepare and present safety performance reports to senior management, highlighting key metrics and areas for improvement.
- Actively participate in safety committees and initiatives, promoting a proactive approach to workplace safety across the organization.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in safety management, preferably within the construction or concrete industry.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards applicable to construction operations.
- Proven experience in conducting safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence employees at all levels.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in safety management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Certification in safety management (e.g., CSP, CIH) is highly desirable.
Nice to have
- Experience with environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives in the construction industry.
- Familiarity with emergency response planning and crisis management.
- Knowledge of behavioral-based safety programs and their implementation.
- Previous experience in a leadership role, mentoring junior safety personnel.
