What you'll do
- Interpret and analyze construction drawings and specifications to develop accurate layout plans for various projects.
- Conduct site surveys and measurements to ensure that all elements are positioned correctly according to design specifications.
- Collaborate with architects and engineers to clarify design intent and resolve any discrepancies in layout plans.
- Utilize advanced surveying tools and software to create precise layout designs that guide construction activities.
- Monitor ongoing construction activities to ensure adherence to layout plans and specifications, making adjustments as necessary.
- Prepare detailed reports and documentation of layout activities, including any changes made during the construction process.
- Train and mentor junior engineers and field staff on layout techniques and best practices to enhance team performance.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards during all layout activities, promoting a culture of safety on-site.
- Participate in project meetings to provide updates on layout progress and address any challenges encountered during implementation.
- Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure that all materials and equipment required for layout activities are available and delivered on time.
- Assist in the development of project schedules and timelines, ensuring that layout activities are completed within established deadlines.
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in layout technology to continuously improve processes and methodologies.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in field layout engineering or a similar role within the construction industry.
- Proficiency in using surveying equipment such as total stations, GPS, and levels.
- Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and industry standards.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make quick decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to collaborate with various stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating strong organizational skills.
- Familiarity with construction project management software and layout tools.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to job sites as required.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in construction.
Nice to have
- Certification as a Professional Engineer (PE) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) is a plus.
- Experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM) and related software.
- Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role within a construction environment.
- Familiarity with local building codes and regulations in Georgia.
- Additional certifications in surveying or construction management would be advantageous.
