Speech Language Pathologist

About the role

You will own the design and delivery of individualized speech and language intervention for students in grades K-8 within a school-based setting. You will partner closely with teachers, families, and other school staff to ensure that communication goals directly support classroom learning and student growth. This role requires you to drive data-informed decisions and track progress to demonstrate measurable gains in student communication skills. You are expected to champion an inclusive environment where students feel seen, heard, and empowered to advocate for their needs. You will actively engage in collaborative problem-solving to address complex communication barriers and adjust services accordingly. In this position, you will model best practices in language development and support the implementation of inclusive strategies across the school day. You will contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by reflecting on practice and incorporating feedback from your interdisciplinary team. Ultimately, you will play a critical role in helping students build the confidence and skills necessary to access their education and pursue their chosen paths.

What you'll do

Conduct comprehensive evaluations to identify student speech and language needs and translate findings into actionable intervention plans.

Design and implement individualized therapy sessions that target functional communication skills aligned with educational goals.

Collect and analyze quantitative and qualitative data to monitor student progress and adjust intervention strategies in a timely manner.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate communication strategies into the classroom environment and across school activities.

Partner with families to provide tools and resources that support carryover of skills beyond the school setting.

Facilitate professional development opportunities for school staff to build capacity in supporting student communication needs.

Implement evidence-based practices to address a range of communication challenges including articulation, language processing, and social communication.

Coordinate with community resources and external providers to ensure a cohesive support network for student success.

Promote student self-advocacy by creating opportunities for learners to articulate their needs and participate in goal-setting.

Champion a culturally responsive approach that honors the diverse backgrounds and lived experiences of students and their families.

Maintain accurate, confidential, and timely documentation in compliance with district policies and regulatory requirements.

Support the creation of inclusive learning environments where communication barriers are identified and addressed proactively.

Lead or contribute to problem-solving meetings regarding student intervention planning and progress monitoring.

Serve as a resource and liaison between school personnel, families, and external service providers to streamline communication and support.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a current credential or license as a Speech Language Pathologist in the state of California.

You must have prior experience providing speech and language services to students in grades K-8 within a school environment.

Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, administrators, and other school staff is essential for success in this role.

A strong commitment to fostering oral communication skills that enable students to access their educational program is required.

You must be able to manage multiple cases and prioritize responsibilities in a dynamic school setting while maintaining attention to detail.

Proficiency in using data to inform instruction and intervention is necessary to track student growth and report outcomes accurately.

Strong written and verbal communication skills are required to engage with stakeholders and support positive school-family partnerships.

You must be able to pass a background check and meet all district-mandated compliance and training requirements.

Nice to have

Experience with students who have diverse learning needs, including those with individualized education programs (IEPs) and 504 plans.

Familiarity with multi-tiered systems of support such as MTSS or similar frameworks used in educational settings.

Knowledge of assistive technology and communication tools that can enhance student access and participation in the classroom.

Experience working with English language learners and supporting bilingual communication development.

Understanding of trauma-informed practices and their application within the school environment.

Practical notes

This is a full-time, in-person position (non-contracted) for the 2026-2027 School Year.

The work location is Los Angeles, California, requiring presence on-site at the school facility.

Travel is not expected as part of the standard duties for this role.
