Speech Language Pathologist

Evergreen Center is currently seeking a full time Speech Language Pathologist to deliver specialized consultative services to educational and residential programs. These programs serve a diverse population of children and young adults ranging from 6 to 22 years of age. The primary responsibility of this role is to conduct comprehensive student evaluations and translate findings into meaningful, measurable IEP goals. The position holder will lead staff training initiatives and manage ongoing program development to ensure high fidelity of service delivery.

A significant focus of this role is augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). Given the high utilization of communication systems and devices within the student population, prior AAC experience is strongly recommended. The Speech Language Pathologist will be expected to perform detailed AAC evaluations, formulate specific device recommendations, and provide technical training to staff. A core component of the role involves maintaining and updating these communication systems to ensure they remain functional and effective.

Success in this position requires the ability to work synergistically with a multidisciplinary team. The Speech Language Pathologist will partner closely with classroom teachers, direct care staff, and Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs). This collaboration is essential to promote consistent communication development across all classroom and community settings. The Evergreen Center Therapy Department is large and expanding, providing clinicians with robust resources, assistive technology devices, and specialized materials to meet complex student needs.

Qualifications

• Must hold a graduate degree from a certified Speech-Language Pathology program.
• Must possess a current Massachusetts license to practice Speech-Language Pathology or have filed for licensure in the state.
• Must hold, or be actively applying for, a Massachusetts teaching certification (Educator's Certificate).
• Must hold current ASHA certification or demonstrate that an application for certification has been submitted.

About the role

The is responsible for conducting comprehensive evaluations of students to determine their communication needs and developing targeted intervention strategies. This role involves designing and implementing individualized education plans that align with both educational and therapeutic objectives. You will translate complex assessment data into actionable goals that support academic and social communication success. A critical aspect of the position is the leadership of data-driven consultative services that bridge the gap between clinical best practices and classroom application. You will own the development and execution of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) protocols for the student population. This includes performing in-depth device trials, selecting appropriate technology, and ensuring the systems are used effectively throughout the student's daily routine.

What you'll do

• Execute comprehensive speech and language evaluations to establish baselines and drive the formation of measurable IEP objectives.
• Design and deliver direct and indirect therapy services that address a wide range of communication disorders across diverse age groups (6-22 years).
• Perform specialized augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) assessments to identify the most effective communication systems for individual students.
• Formulate precise device recommendations and coordinate the implementation of AAC tools to support functional communication in educational settings.
• Lead dynamic training sessions for classroom staff and direct care personnel to ensure fidelity in communication strategy implementation.

• Champion the use of evidence-based practices to elevate the quality of speech and language services delivered across the center.
• Develop and manage program-level initiatives that enhance the overall quality of consultative services for educational programs.
• Serve as a subject matter expert to guide the adaptation of communication curricula for varied developmental and cognitive profiles.

Requirements

• Must hold a graduate degree from a certified Speech-Language Pathology program.
• Must possess a current Massachusetts license to practice Speech-Language Pathology or have filed for licensure in the state.
• Must hold, or be actively applying for, a Massachusetts teaching certification (Educator's Certificate).
• Must hold current ASHA certification or demonstrate that an application for certification has been submitted.
• Must be able to pass a background check and meet all state and federal compliance standards for working with minors.
• Must demonstrate the ability to function effectively in a clinical and educational environment with high levels of professionalism.
• Must adhere to the confidentiality and privacy protocols required for handling sensitive student information.
• Must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds to assist with the handling of therapy equipment and adaptive devices.

Nice to have

• Prior experience working within a multidisciplinary team in a school or residential setting.
• Familiarity with a variety of AAC vendors and device platforms.
