What you'll do
- Conduct precise land surveys to determine property boundaries, topography, and other critical features necessary for project planning and development.
- Utilize advanced surveying equipment and software to collect and analyze data, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
- Prepare detailed survey drawings, reports, and legal descriptions that clearly communicate findings to clients and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with project managers and engineers to provide surveying support for various projects, including residential, commercial, and public infrastructure developments.
- Review and interpret legal documents, such as title reports and easements, to ensure all surveying work aligns with legal requirements.
- Conduct fieldwork, including site visits and measurements, to gather data and verify existing conditions.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely completion and adherence to budgets.
- Mentor and train junior survey staff, fostering a collaborative and educational work environment.
- Stay updated on the latest surveying technologies, methodologies, and regulations to enhance service delivery.
- Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies to address any concerns or questions regarding survey results.
- Prepare and submit necessary documentation for permits and approvals related to surveying activities.
- Participate in project meetings to discuss progress, challenges, and solutions with team members and clients.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in Land Surveying, Geomatics, or a related field.
- A valid Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license in the state of Idaho or the ability to obtain one within a specified timeframe.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in land surveying, with a strong understanding of surveying principles and practices.
- Proficiency in using surveying instruments such as total stations, GPS, and levels.
- Experience with surveying software, including AutoCAD Civil 3D, and other relevant applications.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy in work.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing time and priorities effectively.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations related to land surveying and property development.
Nice to have
- Experience in project management or leadership roles within the surveying field.
- Familiarity with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and its application in surveying.
- Previous experience in a variety of surveying projects, including boundary surveys, topographic surveys, and construction staking.
- Membership in professional organizations, such as the National Society of Professional Surveyors (NSPS) or the Idaho Society of Professional Land Surveyors (ISPLS).
- Additional certifications related to surveying or project management.
Skills & tools
- Proficient in the use of surveying equipment and technology, including total stations, GPS systems, and digital levels.
- Familiarity with CAD software, particularly AutoCAD Civil 3D, for drafting and design purposes.
- Strong understanding of surveying principles, land laws, and regulations.

- Competence in using Microsoft Office Suite for project management and reporting tasks.
