You will be responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies, managing supplier relationships, and collaborating closely with R&D and manufacturing teams to support new product development and ongoing production needs. Key facts
What you'll do
- Collaborate with the R&D team to identify, evaluate, and qualify suppliers for new product launches, ensuring that suppliers meet technical and quality requirements.
- Manage the Plan for Every Part (PFEP) within the New Product Introduction (NPI) Bill of Materials (BOM), overseeing supplier selection, negotiations, and contract management to achieve optimal value, quality, and delivery.
- Serve as a technical liaison to communicate detailed specifications, engineering drawings, and requirements between suppliers and the R&D team, facilitating smooth information flow and alignment.
- Conduct comprehensive research on emerging manufacturing technologies, market trends, and supplier capabilities to inform sourcing strategies and maintain competitive advantage.
- Identify potential supply chain risks early, develop mitigation plans, and lead negotiations to secure favorable terms, ensuring supply continuity and cost control.
- Oversee the development and readiness of supplier manufacturing processes in collaboration with R&D, supporting the qualification and validation of suppliers for new products and design modifications.
- Perform cost modeling and estimation for new product initiatives, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure cost targets are met without compromising quality.
- Coordinate with suppliers and contract manufacturers to ensure timely procurement of materials, parts, and components needed for NPI builds, adhering to project schedules.
- Maintain up-to-date reports on material availability, supplier performance, and schedule status, providing regular updates to senior leadership and project teams.
- Monitor supplier quality, delivery, and performance metrics, driving continuous improvement initiatives and corrective actions when necessary.
- Support supplier audits and assessments, ensuring compliance with quality standards and ITAR regulations, and fostering strong supplier relationships.
- Lead efforts to optimize sourcing processes, reduce costs, and improve supply chain efficiency, aligning with company goals and growth strategies.
- Work closely with internal teams to resolve supply issues, manage change orders, and implement process improvements that enhance overall supply chain resilience.
Requirements
- 1 to 5 years of experience in strategic sourcing, manufacturing, or supplier quality engineering, preferably within high-tech or manufacturing environments.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Willingness to travel internationally up to 20% for supplier audits, relationship management, and process validation.
- Strong presentation, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical and commercial information.
- Experience developing process quality plans, conducting supplier quality audits, and implementing yield improvements.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Exceptional attention to detail, with strong data analysis skills and the ability to interpret complex data sets.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving supply chain issues.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes, supply chain management, and procurement strategies.
Nice to have
- Experience with 3D CAD design tools, especially Solidworks, and familiarity with design for manufacturing principles.
- At least 2 years of experience working with electronics, including reading schematics and understanding electronic components.
- Advanced skills in spreadsheet applications, data analysis, and supplier performance tracking tools.
- Knowledge of ITAR regulations and experience managing suppliers in regulated environments.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, innovative manufacturing setting, with a focus on new product development.

- Proficiency in supplier performance metrics and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Familiarity with procurement software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to coordinate across teams and with external partners.

Compensation
At Form Labs, we believe that equity is an essential part of our compensation structure. The annual salary range for this position is $75,000 to $111,000 USD, depending on your skills, qualifications, experience, and expected contributions to the organization.
