Fleet Compliance Manager

About the role

The will own the end-to-end management of regulatory compliance for the entire US fleet network. In this capacity, you will serve as the primary subject matter expert ensuring that all transportation operations adhere to federal, state, and local mandates. You will lead the development and execution of compliance initiatives that align with DOT and FMCSA requirements. This role requires direct oversight of driver credentialing while simultaneously driving safety and risk mitigation strategies across the organization. You will act as a key partner to operations and leadership, translating complex regulations into actionable best practices. The position demands a proactive approach to identifying and resolving compliance gaps before they escalate. Ultimately, you will foster a company-wide culture where safety and accountability are non-negotiable standards.

What you'll do

• You will architect and implement strategies to Lead fleet regulatory compliance across US transportation operations.
• You will interpret and ensure strict adherence to federal, state, and local transportation regulations including DOT and FMCSA mandates.
• You will manage the entire lifecycle of driver qualification and credential management to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• You will oversee fleet safety and risk management programs, identifying vulnerabilities and driving corrective actions.
• You will administer comprehensive vehicle compliance and maintenance programs to keep the fleet in optimal condition.
• You will conduct rigorous internal audits and prepare precise regulatory reporting for submission to authorities.

Requirements

• You must possess a Bachelor's degree in Transportation, Logistics, Business Administration, Safety Management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience or 10 years work experience in a similar Fleet Compliance Manager role.
• You must demonstrate strong knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT requirements, CDL standards, driver qualification processes, vehicle maintenance compliance, and transportation regulations, including IFTA.
• You must have prior experience managing audits, inspections, and complex regulatory reporting activities.
• You must exhibit strong analytical, organizational, and advanced problem-solving skills to interpret data and drive decisions.
• You must show proficiency with fleet management systems, specialized compliance software, and standard Microsoft Office applications.
• You must have excellent communication and stakeholder management skills to interface effectively with all levels of the organization.
• You must have proven experience supporting multi-state fleet operations and understanding of jurisdictional variations.
• You must have the ability to travel domestically as required by the scope of the role.
• You must have background in construction, industrial services, or commercial fleet environments to understand the operational context.

You will employ compliance software to monitor and report on key metrics. You will create documentation using Microsoft Office applications for reporting and procedures. You will apply IFTA knowledge for accurate fuel tax reporting. You will conduct systematic audits to verify policy adherence. You will perform detailed inspections to identify operational risks. You will execute regulatory reporting to meet government deadlines. You will practice advanced stakeholder management to align cross-functional objectives.
