Key facts
What you'll do
Program and operate AXYZ Machine to meet production targets during the assigned shift.
Operate a variety of laser cutting machines with precision and adherence to safety guidelines.
Read and interpret blueprint/shop drawings for machine setup to verify part specifications.
Set-up and adjust machines to ensure parts are produced according to all quality requirements.
Perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot when issues arise to minimize downtime.
Ensure productivity and on-time completion of work orders throughout the shift.
Support new product development; create bill of materials, routings and fixtures for newly released products.
Participate in the design of efficient manufacturing processes for new product development.
Develop CNC Programs (manually and automatically); utilize software programs to ensure efficient and cost-effective machining of parts.
Assist team in other productions requirements as needed to maintain workflow continuity.
Monitor machine performance and output quality, documenting any deviations for review.
Collaborate with team members to resolve production bottlenecks and improve workflow efficiency.
Verify finished parts against quality standards using measuring tools and inspection methods.
Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding production status and concerns.
Requirements
3-5 years' experience programming and operating AXYZ machine is mandatory for this position.
Experience with laser machines is a required qualification for successful job performance.
Previous experience programming and operating a variety of CNC machines (press, shears, saws) is considered an asset and strengthens candidacy.
Ability to read a Tape Measure to 1/16th " or 1 mm is a non-negotiable skill requirement.
Ability to confidently read and interpret shop drawings/blueprints is essential for accurate machine setup.
Ability to focus on agreed-upon priorities while paying attention to detail that ensures high levels of quality is required.
Mechanically inclined, with knowledge and experience of equipment, tool selection, optimum settings, and understanding of how things work and why.
Ability to troubleshoot and attend to issues as they arise is a critical component of the role.
Demonstrated interest and willingness to strive to learn new skills and take on new assignments as the workload dictates is mandatory.
Full-time availability during the specified shift schedule is necessary for employment.
Reliability and punctuality are fundamental expectations for all team members in this role.
Compliance with all company safety policies and procedures is required at all times.
Physical ability to perform the duties of the role, including standing and repetitive motions, is necessary.
Practical notes
Shift: Monday to Thursday, 3:00PM -1:30AM.
Location: Mississauga.
Overtime available based on production requirements.
Full-time hours are offered as part of the engagement.
Unlimited Coffee and Tea is provided during the shift.
A uniform is provided by the company for this role.
Day shift positions may have access to bus route information, though this primarily applies to day shift only.
