About the role
You will own the full scope of nutrition care for pediatric and adolescent eating disorder patients within a fully virtual treatment environment. You will partner closely with families, guiding them in the application of family-based treatment principles to support nutritional restoration at home. Your role involves translating complex nutrition science into practical, compassionate guidance that families can implement in everyday life. You will act as a key clinical expert within a multidisciplinary team, ensuring that all nutrition interventions align with the highest standards of evidence-based care. You will be responsible for maintaining detailed clinical records and ensuring that all documentation meets regulatory and internal quality standards. This position requires a proactive mindset to assess evolving patient needs and adapt treatment strategies accordingly. You will play a central role in fostering sustainable recovery by empowering families with the tools and confidence to manage meals and nutrition long after initial treatment concludes.

What you'll do
Conduct comprehensive nutrition assessments for new patients during initial telehealth appointments, gathering detailed dietary history and medical information.
Prescribe and customize meal plans using Equip's feeding philosophy, ensuring they meet the specific nutritional needs of growing children and adolescents.
Guide patients and families through systematic exposure to fear and challenge foods, helping them build tolerance and reduce anxiety around eating.
Communicate nutrition-related updates, meal plan adjustments, and progress clearly to therapists, physicians, and peer mentors on the treatment team.
Echo treatment team directives consistently in all family interactions to maintain a united and supportive therapeutic front.
Update electronic medical records thoroughly and promptly, documenting patient progress, nutrition interventions, and any emerging concerns.
Reassess nutritional needs on an ongoing basis, making evidence-based recommendations to the treatment team as the patient's clinical status changes.
Deliver psychoeducation to families that challenges irrational thoughts and beliefs about food, nutrition, weight, and shape that sustain disordered eating patterns.
Assist in the development and execution of discharge plans that include concrete nutrition goals and relapse prevention strategies for families.
Establish and maintain a therapeutic relationship with families, setting appropriate boundaries while building trust and collaboration.
Support the scheduling and logistics of patient appointments to ensure timely and consistent care delivery within designated Pacific Hours.
Perform additional clinical duties as assigned to support the broader mission of the virtual eating disorder treatment program.
Ensure that all direct patient care meets the standard of care outlined by Equip's clinical policies and best practices in eating disorder treatment.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary colleagues to coordinate care and align nutrition strategies with therapeutic and medical goals.
Requirements
Must hold active state licensure as a Registered Dietitian in the state of Idaho.
Possess a minimum of a bachelor's degree or college coursework accredited or approved by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND).
Be a Licensed RDN with current registration in good standing.
Have preferred, but not required, experience in eating disorder treatment within a clinical or outpatient setting.
Have preferred, but not required, exposure to family-based eating disorder treatment approaches and related therapeutic models.
Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills when interacting with patients, families, and professional colleagues.
Show a proven ability to work effectively within interdisciplinary teams, collaborating across roles and disciplines.
Be highly organized, detail-oriented, and driven by measurable treatment outcomes and patient progress.
Understand how to balance business constraints with clinical priorities in a virtual care model.
Be comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment that values innovation and rapid adaptation.
Be able to adhere to Equip's scheduling requirements, including availability during Pacific Hours for patient care and meetings.
Ability to provide a minimum of 30 hours per week dedicated to direct patient care, including new patient evaluations and follow-up sessions.
Commit to being available for a minimum of 16 hours of direct patient care each week after 2:00 PM in your working time zone.
Commit to working two evenings per week until 8:00 PM, with the flexibility to choose which evenings those are based on scheduling needs.
Ability to attend mandatory team meetings, clinical trainings, and other scheduled professional development sessions in a timely manner.
Nice to have
Experience delivering virtual care through telehealth platforms and digital health tools.
Familiarity with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) principles as they apply to eating disorder treatment.
Knowledge of meal planning frameworks used in eating disorder recovery, including structured meal support and normalization of eating patterns.
Experience working with children, adolescents, and their families in a supportive therapeutic context.
Understanding of how to engage family members in the change process and build caregiver capacity around nutrition.
Practical notes
This role requires availability during Pacific Hours for scheduling, patient care, and team meetings.
You must be able to commit to a defined schedule that includes daytime, afternoon, and evening hours as outlined in the working hours section.
Travel is not required for this position as all care is delivered remotely.
This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship at this time.
