About the role
As a Recovery Coach at Equip, you will play a role in supporting individuals on their journey through eating disorder treatment. Your primary responsibility will be to assist patients in adhering to their recovery plans while actively engaging with the program. This position requires you to identify and address challenges, tailor treatment approaches, and impart crucial skills necessary for recovery.

What you'll do
- Facilitate both individual and group sessions aimed at equipping patients and their caregivers with essential skills for recovery.
- Employ motivational strategies to inspire patients and their families to adhere to care plans and engage in program activities.
- Actively participate in team meetings to review and discuss the progress of patients.
- Assist patients and caregivers in anticipating potential challenges and formulating effective coping strategies.
- Organize and manage your calendar to schedule appointments for patients and their caregivers.
- Conduct proactive outreach to follow up on missed appointments, send reminders, and monitor patient engagement.
- Identify and resolve obstacles to ensure patients remain compliant with their care plans, providing practical solutions to any issues that arise.
- Suggest modifications to the program and coordinate additional services to meet the unique needs of each patient, such as scheduling extra sessions or arranging meal support.
- Foster trusting relationships with patients to enhance their recovery experience.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all interactions with patients and caregivers.
- Attend internal meetings and complete any required training sessions.
- Undertake additional responsibilities as needed to support the team and patients.
Requirements
- Personal experience with eating disorder recovery, demonstrating a stable recovery status.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in a patient-facing role within a structured care setting, such as coaching, case management, or social work.
- Comfortable operating within established care models or evidence-based protocols.
- Ability to balance adherence to structured protocols with personalized care, adapting to the individual needs of patients while upholding treatment objectives.
- Proven track record of managing patient care plans using evidence-based practices to keep patients on track.
- Experience in guiding patients and their families toward achieving treatment goals while identifying and overcoming barriers.
- Strong interpersonal skills that enable connection with a diverse range of individuals.
- A genuine interest in evidence-based care and a readiness to acquire new coaching skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, essential for building professional relationships.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with a history of meeting goals effectively.
- Keen attention to detail in all aspects of work.
- Proficient in using technology and open to learning new tools.
- Comfortable working remotely, including participating in video calls.
- Ability to manage uncertainty and apply critical thinking to resolve problems in a dynamic environment.
- Availability to provide 33 hours of direct patient care weekly, including both new patient and follow-up sessions.
- Willingness to work two evenings until 8 PM each week, on evenings of your choice.
- Available for at least 20 hours of direct patient care after 2 PM in the patient's time zone each week.
Nice to have
- Certification in coaching or counseling related to eating disorders or mental health.
- Experience with telehealth platforms and remote patient management.
- Familiarity with various evidence-based treatment modalities for eating disorders.
