About the role
The owns the clinical leadership and execution of nutrition care for pediatric and adolescent patients within a fully virtual, family-based treatment framework. This role owns the development and oversight of individualized nutrition plans that align with Equip's evidence-based feeding philosophy and treatment standards. The hired professional will collaborate closely with therapists, physicians, and mentors to ensure a unified, interdisciplinary approach to patient care. They will be responsible for translating complex nutrition science into practical, family-friendly guidance that challenges disordered eating patterns. This position owns the therapeutic relationship with both the patient and their family, building trust while maintaining clear boundaries and team alignment. The dietitian will drive ongoing assessment and modification of meal plans to support physical restoration and behavioral change. They will own the documentation and communication processes that ensure clinical compliance and continuity of care across all touchpoints. Ultimately, this role owns the nutritional outcomes that contribute to sustainable recovery and long-term health for Equip patients and their families.

What you'll do
- Conduct comprehensive nutrition assessments via telehealth to establish baseline nutritional status and inform individualized treatment plans.
- Prescribe and adjust meal plans using Equip's feeding philosophy, ensuring they meet medical necessity and support gradual exposure to fear foods.
- Guide patients and families through progressive exposure to challenge foods, monitoring tolerance and adjusting strategies in real time.
- Translate complex nutrition recommendations into clear, actionable education for families, reinforcing treatment directives across the care team.
- Echo and reinforce the treatment team's clinical directives to present a united, consistent front during family sessions and care planning.
- Reassess nutritional and weight range targets on an ongoing basis, communicating updates and adjustments to the broader clinical team.
- Update detailed progress notes in Equip's electronic medical record, ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and clinical standards.
- Assist in the coordination and planning of patient discharge, including the development of sustainable post-treatment nutrition routines.
- Deliver evidence-based psychoeducation that challenges irrational beliefs about food, nutrition, weight, and shape to reduce eating disorder behaviors.
- Establish and maintain a therapeutic alliance with families, setting appropriate boundaries while building rapport to support engagement.
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary team members, including therapists, physicians, and peer mentors, to align on patient goals.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the evolving needs of the program and the organization.
- Manage a high-volume caseload of up to 80 patients, ensuring each receives high-quality care across the full duration of their treatment.
- Support continuous quality improvement initiatives by providing feedback on treatment processes and patient outcomes.
Requirements
- Hold an active Registered Dietitian license in the state of Illinois.
- Possess a minimum of a bachelor's degree with coursework accredited or approved by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND).
- Must be a Licensed RDN with current registration and good standing.
- Have preferred, but not required, clinical experience in eating disorder treatment within a family-based therapy context.
- Demonstrate the ability to manage a high-volume caseload of up to 80 active patients simultaneously.
- Show strong written and verbal communication skills for collaborating with diverse clinical teams and stakeholders.
- Have prior experience working effectively within interdisciplinary treatment teams in a clinical setting.
- Be highly organized, detail-oriented, and driven by measurable clinical outcomes and patient progress.
- Demonstrate the capacity to balance business objectives with clinical priorities in a mission-driven environment.
- Be comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment that values innovation and rapid adaptation to change.
- Maintain strict adherence to Equip's clinical policies, procedures, and documentation standards.

Practical notes
Equip allows patients to schedule appointments Monday through Friday, between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM in the patient's local timezone. The role requires a commitment of 30 hours per week dedicated to direct patient care, including new patient intakes and ongoing follow-up sessions. The dietitian must be available to provide a minimum of 16 hours of direct patient care daily after 2:00 PM in the patient's time zone. Additionally, the position requires availability to work until 8:00 PM on two evenings per week to accommodate scheduling needs and continuity of care. These scheduling expectations ensure comprehensive coverage and access to care across all patient time zones.
