About the role
The Registered Dietitian at Equip is responsible for owning the full scope of nutrition care delivery for pediatric and adolescent patients within a fully virtual treatment environment. You will serve as the primary nutrition expert on the clinical care team, guiding families in the implementation of evidence-based feeding strategies. This role requires you to translate complex nutritional science into practical, family-friendly actions that support sustainable recovery. You will collaborate daily with therapists, physicians, and mentors to ensure a unified and cohesive treatment approach. A core part of this position involves building strong therapeutic alliances with both patients and their caregivers through a compassionate, non-judgmental stance. You will leverage telehealth technology to deliver high-impact interventions that are both clinically rigorous and accessible. Ultimately, you will own the nutritional outcomes and satisfaction metrics for your assigned patient population.

- Act as the central communication hub for nutrition-related updates, ensuring all team members remain aligned and informed.
- Support the discharge planning process by identifying barriers and creating sustainable nutrition plans for post-treatment life.
- Monitor patient progress on a weekly basis, adjusting nutritional targets and assignments based on evolving clinical data.
- Reassess energy requirements and nutritional status continuously, making timely recommendations to the broader treatment team.
- Deliver psychoeducation that directly targets distorted cognitions regarding food, weight, shape, and control.
- Build and maintain a strong working alliance with families, establishing trust while upholding professional boundaries.
- Ensure meticulous and timely documentation within the electronic medical record in strict compliance with company standards.
- Provide coverage for patient needs across extended hours, demonstrating flexibility in a dynamic, asynchronous care model.
- Participate in interdisciplinary case conferences to discuss patient progress and adjust holistic treatment strategies.
- Uphold the Equip treatment philosophy in every interaction, presenting a united front to the patient and family.
Requirements
- Hold an active dietitian license in the state of Missouri to practice in a clinical capacity.
- Possess a minimum of a bachelor's degree from an institution with coursework accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND).
- Be a Registered Dietitian (RDN) with current credentialing and standing.
- Have clinical experience treating eating disorders, with a preference for candidates familiar with family-based treatment models.
- Demonstrate the capacity to manage a high-volume caseload of up to 80 active patients simultaneously.
- Exhibit superior communication skills to navigate complex conversations with diverse families and professionals.
- Bring prior experience working within interdisciplinary clinical teams in a healthcare setting.
- Show a strong results-oriented mindset, balancing detailed administrative work with direct patient care demands.
- Display the cognitive flexibility to understand and reconcile business constraints with clinical best practices.
- Thrive in a fast-paced, startup environment that values rapid iteration and innovation.
- Commit to a schedule that includes 30 hours per week of direct patient availability during daytime hours.
- Provide a minimum of 16 hours of direct patient care daily after 2:00 PM in the patient's local time zone.
- Maintain availability to work evening shifts, specifically until 8:00 PM, on two nights per week.
- Adhere to strict confidentiality and ethical guidelines when handling sensitive patient information remotely.
