We are currently seeking a Structural Engineer to join our dynamic Calgary studio. The ideal candidate is a designer who approaches problems with demonstrable creativity, a collaborative mindset, and a relentless pursuit of excellence. Location and Engagement
The position is based in Calgary, Alberta, and is a full-time opportunity. The compensation range for this role is $96,000 to $126,000 annually.
Key Responsibilities
Your daily work will involve translating project aspirations into technically sound and resilient structural solutions. You will draft initial intake documentation, capturing project scope and site-specific constraints with precision. A core part of the role is modeling building systems to verify capacity and performance, requiring close coordination with mechanical and other technical teams. You will evaluate multiple design alternatives, ensuring that final choices strike an appropriate balance between safety, cost-efficiency, and community benefit. Your analysis will guide decision-making to satisfy both rigorous technical standards and the original design intent.
A significant portion of your work will involve preparing clear review documents that explain technical decisions to clients and regulatory authorities. You will partner with sustainability experts to ensure that environmental performance is successfully integrated into the structural framework. This includes supporting the finalization of construction documents, ensuring that all details and schedules are accurate and comprehensive. Finally, you will be responsible for shipping deliverables on schedule, maintaining clarity and open communication with all partner teams throughout the process.
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must hold a degree in engineering or a related field recognized for professional practice. The position requires a minimum of three years of post-qualification experience specifically in structural calculations and building information modeling. A strong understanding of analysis methods and their application to various building assemblies is essential. Clear communication of technical concepts to a wide range of stakeholders is a critical skill. Your work must always comply with relevant building codes and industry standards.

Candidates with experience in mass timber systems will be viewed favorably when such technologies align with the project scope. Proficiency with ETABS, REVIT, and AutoCAD is expected as part of your standard daily workflow.
