The is entrusted with the development and execution of electrical systems that directly advance the firm's mission of improving community wellbeing and environmental health. This role owns the creation of electrical distribution strategies that are rigorously aligned with evolving project objectives and client expectations from initial concept through final delivery. You will own the responsibility of sizing conductors, selecting protective devices, and defining circuit layouts while ensuring strict compliance with applicable standards and project constraints. The position requires ownership over the production of accurate load calculations, one-line diagrams, and comprehensive design documentation that facilitate seamless internal coordination and thorough review processes. You will own the collaboration with mechanical, structural, and sustainability specialists to ensure that system integration actively supports energy performance goals and constructability throughout the project lifecycle. This role owns the use of engineering software to model panelboards, transformers, and associated components to verify data integrity and confirm on-site installation feasibility. The Intermediate Electrical Engineer owns participation in construction site observations, commissioning activities, and proactive troubleshooting to resolve emerging issues efficiently and effectively. Finally, this position owns the maintenance of project-specific libraries, calculation templates, and procedural notes, as well as the meticulous tracking of design revisions, decisions, and assumptions to ensure that project records remain organized, transparent, and current.

- Execute the core technical responsibilities outlined for the Intermediate Electrical Engineer role at Dialogdesign, ensuring alignment with project deliverables and team expectations.

- Perform detailed conductor sizing, protective device selection, and circuit layout planning to create electrical systems that are efficient, resilient, and practical.
- Generate comprehensive load calculations, one-line diagrams, and design documentation that support interdisciplinary coordination and formal review procedures.
- Collaborate actively with mechanical, structural, and sustainability experts to integrate systems in a way that enhances energy performance, constructability, and long-term reliability.
- Utilize advanced engineering software to model panelboards, transformers, and related components, validating data accuracy and confirming installation feasibility in real-world conditions.
- Participate proactively in construction site observations, commissioning activities, and troubleshooting efforts to identify and resolve issues as they arise.

Requirements
- Hold a recognized engineering credential relevant to electrical or building systems engineering, demonstrating a foundational level of professional qualification.
- Possess three to five years of hands-on experience in electrical systems specifically for the built environment, with a focus on practical application.
- Demonstrate thorough knowledge of power distribution principles, lighting systems, and control strategies commonly used in commercial and institutional buildings.
- Show proven ability in applying industry calculation methods and modeling protocols to validate system capacity, performance, and safety.
- Exhibit clear communication skills that enable the effective conveyance of technical information through drawings, written reports, and collaborative discussions.
- Maintain a strong commitment to adhering strictly to project specifications, national codes, and internal quality management procedures.
- Display a solid understanding of electrical design within the context of sustainable building practices and energy performance considerations.
- Possess proficiency in the use of electrical design software, calculation tools, CAD platforms, and digital document management systems required for modern engineering practice.

This role operates as full-time employment based in Ottawa, Ontario, with standard working hours as determined by project needs and team collaboration. Compensation for this position is structured within the range of $86,863.00 to $101,686.00 annually, reflecting the responsibilities and expertise required. The successful candidate will report directly to senior engineering staff and engage regularly with cross-functional teams throughout the entire project lifecycle.
