Intermediate Mechanical Technologist
Job description
About the role
You will partner with a multi-disciplinary team of architects, engineers, and project managers to translate design intent into precise mechanical systems documentation using Autodesk Revit. You will take ownership of developing accurate, coordinated, and code-compliant construction documents that serve as the definitive graphical contract for the project. You will be responsible for producing detailed system diagrams, schedules, and specifications that clearly communicate installation requirements to contractors and consultants. You will perform model checks and coordination reviews to ensure consistency between architectural, structural, and mechanical elements before construction documentation is finalized. You will maintain project standards, file organization, and version control to ensure that all team members can access the most current information efficiently. You will support the iterative design process by updating models in response to feedback, code review comments, and constructability discussions. You will contribute to a collaborative studio culture by communicating clearly, asking questions, and proactively identifying potential issues before they impact the schedule. You will help the studio uphold its values as a Certified B Corporation by supporting projects that improve community wellbeing and reduce environmental impact through thoughtful design.
Key facts
What you'll do
Perform detailed 3D modeling of mechanical systems, including ductwork, piping, and equipment, using Autodesk Revit to support integrated project delivery.
Generate construction-ready drawings, schedules, and annotations that align with project specifications and regulatory standards while maintaining clarity for contractors.
Coordinate with architects and structural engineers to resolve spatial conflicts and ensure that mechanical assemblies integrate seamlessly within the overall building design.
Verify that all modeled systems comply with current building codes, industry standards, and project-specific requirements through systematic review and validation.
Assist in the preparation of tender documents by organizing model data and drawing content to support accurate pricing and procurement activities.
Conduct model audits to confirm that system connectivity, equipment ratings, and layout logic remain consistent throughout design development and documentation phases.
Support senior engineers in producing construction documentation packages that are ready for review, permitting, and eventual construction administration.
Leverage parametric families and custom components to create reusable content that improves team efficiency and maintains consistency across multiple projects.
Participate in internal knowledge-sharing sessions to mentor junior team members and elevate the overall quality of the studio's digital workflows.
Act as a technical liaison between the office and on-site teams by clarifying design intent during construction observation and responding to information requests.
Maintain a high standard of documentation hygiene by keeping layers, naming conventions, and revision statuses organized to streamline collaboration and reduce errors.
Use visualization tools to communicate design options and system performance to non-technical stakeholders during project reviews and workshops.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of office standards by testing new workflows, tools, and templates that enhance accuracy and productivity.
Demonstrate ownership of project deliverables by meeting established milestones and adapting to shifting priorities in a fast-paced design environment.
Requirements

You are proficient in Autodesk Revit, with demonstrated ability to create and modify parametric families, coordinate models, and produce construction documentation.
You possess solid knowledge of drawing standards, file organization, and version control practices essential for multi-disciplinary collaboration.
You have excellent attention to detail and the ability to translate technical specifications into clear and accurate graphical representations.
You are able to communicate effectively with team members from diverse disciplines, including architecture, structural, and civil engineering.
You are highly organized, self-motivated, and capable of managing multiple project tasks while adhering to strict deadlines.
You are committed to maintaining a safe and respectful work environment and adhering to the studio's health and safety protocols at all times.
