What you'll do
- Perform detailed mechanical systems engineering tasks for a wide range of project types, ensuring alignment with high-performance design goals and project requirements.

- Partner with sustainability experts to verify that mechanical systems actively support building performance goals, community health, and environmental wellbeing.

- Collaborate with landscape and urban design teams to ensure that site mechanical systems enhance long-term operational efficiency and contribute to public vibrancy.
- Manage the technical scope and intake workflows for mechanical design, confirming project requirements and maintaining alignment with overall performance objectives throughout the project lifecycle.
- Serve as a key technical resource for architects, clients, and regulatory authorities, communicating complex mechanical concepts clearly and effectively.
- Utilize industry-standard tools, including CAD and Revit, along with relevant analysis software, to generate accurate construction documents and performance deliverables.
- Support the development and implementation of mechanical strategies within LEED or comparable sustainability frameworks, where applicable.
- Ensure all mechanical engineering outputs meet the rigorous standards required for regulatory approval and successful project completion.
Requirements
- Hold a degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related technical field from an accredited institution.
- Bring a minimum of three years and a maximum of five years of progressive experience in mechanical design specifically for buildings and the built environment.
- Demonstrate a strong, in-depth understanding of high-performance heating, cooling, and ventilation systems and their application in complex building types.
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with architects, clients, consultants, and regulatory authorities.
- Have legal authorization to work in Canada without the need for sponsorship or additional work permits.
- Show a proven ability to manage multiple project responsibilities simultaneously while maintaining a high standard of detail and accuracy.
- Exhibit strong problem-solving skills, particularly in analyzing mechanical constraints and developing practical engineering solutions.
- Be comfortable working within a collaborative, team-oriented environment that values diverse expertise and interdisciplinary coordination.
