What you'll do
- Design and implement robust database architectures that meet the specific needs of our applications, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Collaborate with software developers, system architects, and other stakeholders to define database requirements and specifications.
- Optimize existing database systems for performance, scalability, and reliability, employing best practices in database management.
- Conduct regular database performance tuning and troubleshooting to resolve issues and improve system efficiency.
- Develop and maintain documentation for database architecture, including data models, schemas, and design specifications.
- Implement data security measures to protect sensitive information and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
- Lead database migration projects, ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing operations and data integrity.
- Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously enhance our database solutions and practices.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior database administrators and developers, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes and methodologies.
- Collaborate with DevOps teams to integrate database solutions into CI/CD pipelines, enhancing deployment efficiency and reliability.
- Engage in problem-solving sessions to address complex database-related challenges and propose innovative solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in database architecture and design, with a strong focus on application databases.
- Proficiency in SQL and experience with various database management systems such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle.
- Strong understanding of data modeling concepts and experience with data warehousing solutions.
- Familiarity with cloud-based database services, such as AWS RDS or Azure SQL Database.
- Experience in performance tuning, backup and recovery strategies, and database security best practices.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Nice to have
- Experience with NoSQL databases, such as MongoDB or Cassandra, is a plus.
- Knowledge of data integration tools and ETL processes.
- Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, Java, or C# for database interaction.
- Experience in Agile development methodologies and tools.
- Certifications in database management or cloud services would be advantageous.
