About the role
Bamboohr is looking for a Program Manager to coordinate cross-functional initiatives and drive project delivery across distributed teams in various countries. This role involves planning, tracking, and communicating progress on strategic programs from start to finish, ensuring that all work stays aligned with company objectives. The Program Manager will serve as a central point of contact for stakeholders, working closely with engineering, product, and operations groups to remove blockers and keep programs on track. You will own timelines, manage dependencies across teams, and ensure that every deliverable meets quality standards and supports broader business goals. This is a full-time position with a remote-first setup, allowing you to work from various countries while collaborating with a global team.

What you'll do
Define program scope, objectives, and success criteria in close collaboration with leadership and key project stakeholders across the organization.
Build and maintain detailed project plans that outline milestones, deliverables, resource requirements, and critical path dependencies for each initiative.
Track program progress against established timelines on a regular basis and proactively flag risks, issues, or delays to relevant teams.
Facilitate cross-functional meetings and working sessions to ensure alignment between engineering, product, and operations groups throughout the program lifecycle.
Create clear status reports and visual dashboards that summarize program health, key metrics, and blockers for leadership reviews.
Coordinate with external partners, vendors, and third-party providers to ensure smooth execution of program activities and deliverables.
Manage change requests systematically and evaluate their impact on scope, schedule, budget, and overall program risk profile.
Identify and document lessons learned from each program phase to improve future planning, execution, and delivery practices.
Support the development and refinement of standard operating procedures for program management workflows and team handoffs.
Communicate program updates, decisions, and escalations to all affected teams in a clear, consistent, and timely manner.
Drive retrospective sessions after major milestones to capture feedback and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Maintain a centralized repository of program documentation, including charters, risk logs, and decision records for easy team access.
Requirements
Experience managing programs or projects in a fast-paced, multi-stakeholder environment is required for this role.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex topics clearly to diverse audiences.
Proficiency with project management methodologies such as Agile, Scrum, or Waterfall and understanding of when to apply each.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple competing priorities effectively in a remote and distributed setting.
Familiarity with data analysis and reporting tools to track program metrics, measure outcomes, and inform decisions.
A bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in a related field such as business or engineering.
At least three years of professional experience in program or project coordination within a technology organization.
Demonstrated ability to build trust, influence outcomes, and navigate ambiguity across distributed and cross-functional teams.
Comfortable working with shifting priorities and adapting plans as program needs and business conditions change over time.
Experience with stakeholder management and the ability to balance competing interests while maintaining positive working relationships.

Knowledge of remote collaboration tools and virtual facilitation techniques is highly valued by the team.
Certification in project management such as PMP or PRINCE2 is considered a meaningful benefit.
Previous exposure to international teams across multiple time zones and cultural contexts is beneficial.
Background in open-source or developer tooling communities can be a helpful advantage for this role.
