About the role
This role is a strategic leadership position responsible for shaping and elevating the Chartis brand in the external marketplace. The hire will own the development and execution of an integrated external communications strategy that strengthens awareness, reputation, engagement, and differentiation for the firm and its family of brands. They will act as a strategic advisor to executive leadership, translating complex business initiatives into compelling narratives for public consumption. The position requires a hands-on leader who is comfortable writing executive messaging, coaching C-suite leaders for media interviews, and rolling up their sleeves to ensure brand consistency. They will identify and secure opportunities to elevate the firm's voice and reputation across the competitive healthcare landscape. The role demands a rare blend of big-picture strategic thinking and meticulous execution to manage the full external communications lifecycle. Ultimately, this hire will be the guardian of the Chartis brand story, ensuring it resonates powerfully with the market.

What you'll do
Partner with the Chief Marketing Officer to evolve and steward the Chartis brand, designing and executing an integrated external communications strategy that strengthens awareness, reputation, engagement, and differentiation for Chartis and its family of brands.
Lead, mentor, and develop the brand team, providing guidance and direction to the team in the execution of public relations, social media, digital marketing, employer brand, and alumni relations.
Oversee the firm's digital marketing strategy, including website content and governance, paid advertising, and digital marketing, ensuring Chartis' digital presence advances brand reputation, supports business growth, and is optimized for visibility and discoverability across both traditional search and AI-powered experiences.
Lead the external communications and brand integration strategy for acquisitions, developing messaging, media relations plans, and communications that preserve brand equity while successfully integrating new organizations into the Chartis family of brands.
Partner with thought leadership and line-of-business marketing teams to ensure integrated storytelling and consistent messaging across campaigns and channels.
Oversee brand governance, messaging frameworks, editorial standards, and visual identity and voice across all external communications.
Partner closely with recruiting and internal communications to strengthen Chartis' employer brand and ensure alignment between internal culture and external reputation.
Measure and report on brand health, share of voice, executive visibility, social media metrics, website traffic and discoverability, and communications effectiveness using data-driven insights.
Stay ahead of emerging trends in healthcare, communications, AI, and professional services marketing, bringing forward innovative ideas that strengthen the firm's visibility and market position.
Serve as a primary point of contact for external stakeholders, media, and industry analysts, ensuring Chartis is positioned as a trusted and authoritative voice in the healthcare sector.
Champion the development and execution of content strategies for digital platforms, ensuring that all published materials align with the firm's editorial standards and business objectives.
Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and deploy campaigns that enhance the visibility of Chartis experts and their insights in the marketplace.
Provide strategic counsel on reputation management, proactively identifying potential risks and opportunities in the external environment.
Champion the use of data and market feedback to continuously refine the external communications strategy and demonstrate clear business impact.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, English, Business Administration, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
12-15+ years of progressive leadership experience in brand strategy, communications, public relations, or corporate affairs, preferably within a consulting, professional services, healthcare, or B2B organization.
Demonstrated success building and evolving corporate brands that support business growth and reputation.
Deep expertise in executive communications, media relations, thought leadership, public relations, and integrated communications strategy.
Demonstrated understanding of how AI is transforming brand building and communications, including the ability to leverage AI to improve team productivity and workflows while developing content and communications strategies that strengthen brand authority and discoverability across both traditional search and emerging AI-powered platforms.
Outstanding writing and storytelling abilities, with experience crafting clear, concise, and persuasive messaging for diverse audiences and platforms.
Proven track record of managing complex projects and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced, multi-priority environment.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain trusted relationships with internal and external partners at all levels.
