The Senior Advisor position at Chartis, operating through the Jarrard Inc. division, is defined by a singular mission: to improve healthcare. This position is in-person, requiring candidates to live in or relocate to Chicago, IL or Nashville, TN and work 1-2 days per week from one of these offices.
What You'll Do
The Senior Advisor will be entrusted with steering critical initiatives for the nation's most prominent healthcare organizations. A core responsibility is developing initial drafts and driving the editing process for all client materials, ensuring strategic alignment and editorial excellence. This includes performing comprehensive editorial oversight of peer deliverables to maintain consistency and brand standards across the firm's output.
Media engagement forms a crucial part of the role, requiring the orchestration of media pitching, outreach, and real-time monitoring to amplify client messages and track earned coverage. The Senior Advisor will synthesize weekly and monthly performance reports, translating complex data and project results into clear, actionable narratives for stakeholders. Research will be conducted to inform client strategies and uncover emerging issues within the dynamic healthcare landscape, followed by an analysis of industry and competitor dynamics to generate insights that keep client programs ahead of market shifts.
The position demands proactive, value-added suggestions designed to optimize client workflows and solve strategic or operational needs. This includes offering innovative enhancements to strengthen client outcomes and implementing specialized assignments as directed by senior leadership. Rigorous self-planning and time management are essential, as the Senior Advisor will practice disciplined weekly planning to maximize personal and team productivity while managing multiple priorities and switching gears efficiently throughout the day. Timely reporting to managers, colleagues, and team leads ensures alignment on objectives and deadlines.
Requirements
To qualify for this role, candidates must have earned a bachelor's degree, with a focus in communications, public relations, journalism, or political science being beneficial. A demonstrated passion for the healthcare industry is required, along with a commitment to the firm's mission to improve healthcare. The position requires 3-5 years of preferred experience in a communications role, a professional services firm with a healthcare focus, or journalism.
Candidates must exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills across diverse audiences and formats, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality work on schedule to satisfy demanding client commitments. Strategic thinking must lead to innovative solutions and robust program implementation. Expert workload and time management are necessary to balance personal schedules and coordinate priorities for team members. Success in this role requires thriving as a collaborative team member who fosters collegial partnerships and leverages collective intelligence. The ability to juggle concurrent assignments and pivot efficiently without compromising quality is essential. The salary range for this role is $68,000-75,000, and the role may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. The salary range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skills, experience, training, licensure and certifications, practice area, and other business and organizational needs.
