What you'll do

Provide direct support to students during instructional time and within general education settings.

Help manage student behavior using positive reinforcement strategies under the guidance of school staff.

Assist with the supervision of students during lunch, recess, and other school-related activities.

Support classroom routines by helping students stay on task and follow teacher directions.

Collaborate closely with teachers and school staff to implement classroom plans and student goals.

Work with small groups or 1:1 students to reinforce lessons and practice skills as directed.

Assist in collecting data or observations that help track student progress during activities.

Support transitions between classes and locations within the school environment as needed.

Help maintain a safe and organized learning space by following teacher and school procedures.

Participate in school meetings, training, or events when scheduled as part of your role.

Requirements

You must have completed 48 college credits to be eligible for this role.

You must have documented experience working with students with severe disabilities.

RBT experience is considered a plus for this position.

Bilingual skills in Spanish are required for this role.

You must be able to pass a background check prior to any student contact.

You must comply with all safety and reporting guidelines while on school premises.

You are responsible for completing required school clearances, which may include fingerprinting and related fees.

You must understand and adhere to all mandated reporter training and reporting obligations.

Nice to have

RBT experience is preferred if you have it.

Bilingual abilities in Spanish are a strong advantage for this role.

Practical notes

This is a school-based contract role with flexible scheduling through the Vacaville Unified School District.

You can choose to work as few as 2 days or as many as 5 days per week, always between Monday and Friday.

Full school day hours are available and may align with the operating hours of your assigned school site.

This role is structured as an independent contractor position under a 1099 engagement.

Assignments may require the ability to lift up to 30 pounds and to stand for extended periods.

Prior to working with students, you will need to complete a background check, livescan, and necessary school clearances.

Costs related to these clearances are your responsibility, with average costs in California ranging from $288 to $303.

There may be additional state-specific requirements depending on the assignment and district.

You must have reliable transportation or a valid driver's license if the assignment requires it.

This role does not provide benefits, insurance, or paid time off due to its contractor status.
