This position places you in front of students in grades 3rd through 5th, where your primary mission is to make a tangible difference in their educational journey. You will own the full experience of running dedicated homework assistance and small-group tutoring sessions that turn after-school hours into productive classroom extensions. Your responsibility includes designing and leading energetic STEM and coding group activities that keep motivation high and participation consistent across different age groups. You will actively supervise students through every transition, from the hallway to the classroom, including snack time and recreational periods to ensure a safe environment. Implementing positive behavior management strategies will be your tool to maintain an inclusive, respectful space that adheres strictly to program safety protocols. You will also maintain accurate attendance and behavior records while serving as the main point of contact for parents during pick-up to provide professional updates on progress or behavior. Ultimately, you will ensure that each afternoon concludes with a meaningful impact on the students you serve.

Requirements
You must hold a High School Diploma or a GED certificate as proof of your educational foundation.
You must demonstrate a clear understanding of STEM and Coding subject matter to effectively support student learning.
Bilingual ability in Spanish is noted as a valuable asset for this role.
You must pass a background check to ensure the safety of the students you will be serving.
You are required to follow all safety and reporting guidelines as part of your commitment to student welfare.
You must complete all required school clearances, for which you are financially responsible, as this is an independent contractor role.
You must be willing to obtain necessary testing or clearances mandated by the state where you work.
You must understand that costs for clearance processes such as background checks and Mandated Reporter training are your responsibility.
You must be able to lift up to 30 pounds and stand for extended periods while performing your duties at the school site.

Practical notes
This role is available in Novato and requires you to work 2 to 5 days per week on after-school shifts from 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM. You have the flexibility to pick up assignments that fit your personal schedule, making it suitable as a side hustle or as a consistent source of weekly income. The position is structured as a contract role under 1099 guidelines, and you will be responsible for managing your own clearance costs, which typically range between $203 and $218 in California. There is no specified end date for this opportunity, allowing you to continue building experience as long as you meet the requirements and maintain reliability. Travel is limited to the Novato area, and you must be available during after-school hours to ensure continuity for the students.
