What you'll do
- Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with the company's goals and objectives, ensuring the best value for money.
- Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers, assess their capabilities, and evaluate their offerings to make informed purchasing decisions.
- Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers to secure favorable terms and conditions, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
- Collaborate with various departments to understand their procurement needs and provide support in sourcing the necessary materials and services.
- Monitor supplier performance and maintain relationships to ensure timely delivery and quality of goods and services.
- Prepare and maintain accurate procurement documentation, including purchase orders, contracts, and supplier evaluations, to ensure transparency and accountability.
- Analyze procurement data and market trends to identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend improvements to existing processes.
- Coordinate with the finance team to manage budgets and ensure that procurement activities are conducted within financial constraints.
- Assist in resolving any procurement-related issues or disputes with suppliers in a timely and professional manner.
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices to enhance the procurement function within the organization.
- Participate in training and development opportunities to improve procurement skills and knowledge.
- Contribute to the development of sustainability initiatives within the procurement process, promoting ethical sourcing and responsible purchasing practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in procurement or supply chain management, preferably in a similar industry.
- Strong negotiation skills with a proven track record of securing favorable terms and conditions with suppliers.
- Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions based on market trends.
- Proficient in procurement software and tools, as well as Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
- Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations related to procurement and supply chain management.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Nice to have
- Professional certification in procurement or supply chain management (e.g., CIPS, APICS) is a plus.
- Experience working in an international or multicultural environment.
- Familiarity with sustainable procurement practices and ethical sourcing initiatives.
- Proficiency in a second language, particularly Swahili, is advantageous.
- Previous experience in a similar role within the construction or manufacturing sectors.
