Senior Manager, Accounting
Job description
About the role
The Senior Manager of Accounting at Wunderkind is responsible for owning the most complex corporate accounting areas including internal-use-software capitalization, hosting arrangements, leases, intercompany activities, and intangible assets. This role partners closely with Legal, Finance leadership, and the business to ensure accurate treatment of key revenue streams such as core-subscription, text messaging, and advertising revenue. You will research and apply accounting guidance under standards like ASC 350-40, ASC 606, and ASC 842, translating technical conclusions into clear technical memos. The position involves performing detailed month-end activities such as account reconciliations, rollforwards, and fluctuation analyses to explain business drivers behind the numbers. You will actively search for and implement AI tools and automation to remove manual steps while preserving strong internal controls and data accuracy. In addition, you will redesign spreadsheet-heavy workflows to improve speed and scalability, creating documentation robust enough to satisfy audit and SOX-equivalent review standards. You will support both interim and year-end close processes, maintaining audit-ready files for all owned accounting areas at all times. The role includes mentoring 1-2 accounting professionals by reviewing their work, delivering technical coaching, and supporting their ongoing development. This is an opportunity for a technically minded builder who enjoys solving intricate accounting problems in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
