What you'll do
Develop and maintain financial dashboards in Power BI or Tableau to monitor revenue, margins, transaction volumes, and operating costs in real time.
Write complex SQL queries to analyze large transactional datasets, uncovering insights into cost structures, profitability trends, and payment behaviors.
Perform end-to-end reconciliation of transaction data across banks, payment gateways, and internal accounting records to ensure integrity and resolve discrepancies.
Support FP&A initiatives by contributing to monthly closing processes, budgeting exercises, variance analysis, and revenue forecasting models.
Automate routine financial reporting workflows using SQL and Python to minimize reliance on manual Excel processes and improve scalability.
Investigate anomalies in financial data by drilling down into transaction-level details to identify root causes and propose corrective actions.
Partner with Product and Finance stakeholders to define data requirements and translate business needs into measurable analytics frameworks.
Ensure compliance with internal audit standards by maintaining detailed documentation of data sources, transformation logic, and calculation methodologies.
Lead ad-hoc analysis projects that provide strategic insights into payments performance, customer behavior, and operational efficiency.
Monitor key performance indicators related to payments operations and present findings in a clear, concise manner to non-technical audiences.
Champion data governance practices to improve consistency and reliability of financial reporting across the organization.
Leverage visualization best practices to design intuitive dashboards that enable stakeholders to make faster, more informed decisions.
Collaborate with data engineering teams to improve data pipelines and ensure timely availability of high-quality datasets for analysis.
Act as a subject matter expert in financial data, providing guidance to junior analysts and stakeholders on analytical best practices.
Requirements
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Data Analytics, Engineering, Economics, or a related field as a fundamental educational qualification.
A minimum of 2-4 years of professional experience as a Data Analyst within a Finance, Payments, or FinTech environment is mandatory for this position.
Demonstrated expertise in SQL is essential for querying large datasets and performing complex joins, aggregations, and window functions.
Advanced proficiency in Excel is required, including the use of pivot tables, lookup functions, and financial modeling techniques.
Strong knowledge of data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI is necessary to build interactive and insightful dashboards.
Solid understanding of financial fundamentals including profit and loss (P&L), payments and settlements, and unit economics is non-negotiable.
The ability to reconcile transaction data from multiple sources such as banks, payment gateways, and accounting systems with precision is required.
Excellent attention to detail and analytical rigor is expected to ensure accuracy in financial reporting and analysis.
Nice to have
Experience working in a FinTech or payments-focused environment would align closely with the demands of this role.
Familiarity with Python for data cleaning and automation tasks would be advantageous in supporting analytical workflows.
Understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes within a corporate finance setting is preferred.
