Traveling Drinking Water Treatment Specialist

About the role

You own the full lifecycle of drinking water treatment plant operations and maintenance within your assigned eastern New England region. You directly ensure that critical treatment, mechanical, and electrical equipment performs reliably and safely every day. You own the implementation of Asset Management practices and the accurate tracking of all maintenance activities. You own the execution of routine, preventative, and corrective maintenance tasks to keep facilities in optimal condition. You own the responsibility of responding to emergency calls and taking the required corrective action to restore operations. You own the provision of technical assistance for process control changes and troubleshooting at client facilities. You own the collaboration with Operations Leaders, Area Managers, and Project Managers to meet project demands and support staff training.

What you'll do

Perform operation and maintenance of assigned treatment, mechanical and electrical equipment and other similarly related facility components and equipment.

Work with staff to evaluate maintenance and ensure Asset Management practices are consistently implemented and tracked across the service area.

Assist with preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, and emergency repairs to minimize system downtime and ensure regulatory compliance.

Support instrument calibrations and upgrades to maintain accurate monitoring and control of treatment processes.

Utilize W&C technical platforms for data collection including Utility Cloud, Hach WIMS, Do Forms, Power BI, and other related systems.

Assist in interpreting and updating GIS maps and plant plans and specifications to reflect current conditions and project changes.

Provide operations and maintenance support at water, wastewater, and industrial treatment facilities as directed by project needs.

Travel to support assigned projects and assist with emergency event repair and recovery efforts across the service region.

Assist with interim support and maintenance activities for clients during transition periods or staffing gaps.

Implement process control changes and conduct troubleshooting activities to optimize treatment performance.

Support the execution of capital planning initiatives to ensure maintenance activities align with long-term facility goals.

Train and coach staff on industry standard maintenance practices to elevate the overall capability of the team.

Collaborate closely with the Operations Leader, Area Managers, and Project Managers to prioritize and meet project demands.

Leverage business intelligence systems to analyze data and drive informed decisions for operational improvements.

Requirements

You must have a solid maintenance background which may include certifications and licenses relevant to the trade.

You must possess knowledge of the drinking water treatment industry to include equipment, controls, and process fundamentals.

You must have experience in the inspection, condition assessment, reporting, and repair and maintenance of sanitary sewer mains, manholes, and lift stations.

You must have experience with distribution system force mains, services, and pump stations to ensure system integrity.

You must be willing to utilize business intelligence systems including PowerBI to track and report on operational metrics.

You must be willing to learn and apply knowledge of artificial intelligence systems and implementation where applicable.

You must have experience with utility technology software including Hach's Water Information Management System (Hach WIMS) to manage data.

You must be willing to travel to support assigned projects and assist with emergency event repair and recovery efforts as needed.

You must have knowledge of predictive maintenance equipment and best practices to prevent unexpected failures.

You must be able to lift up to 40 pounds on a regular basis to perform essential job duties safely.

All successful candidates will be required to complete a pre-placement background check, drug screen, and physical before employment.

Nice to have

Knowledge of artificial intelligence systems and implementation is a plus.

Experience with utility technology software including Hach's Water Information Management System (Hach WIMS) is a plus.

Ability to utilize business intelligence systems including PowerBI is a plus.

Knowledge of predictive maintenance equipment and best practices is a plus.

Practical notes

This position will be supporting operations primarily in the eastern Massachusetts, New Hampshire and southern Maine region, with occasional travel to other location around the United States. You will be required to travel a minimum of 75% of the year with most of this travel being regionally-focused in eastern Massachusetts.
