Key facts
What you'll do
- Oversee the daily fund accounting operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
- Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements for various investment funds, ensuring timely delivery to clients.
- Collaborate with portfolio managers and other stakeholders to gather necessary data for accurate fund valuations.
- Conduct reconciliations of cash and positions, identifying and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Assist in the preparation of annual audits, liaising with external auditors to provide necessary documentation and explanations.
- Monitor and implement changes in accounting standards and regulations that may impact fund accounting practices.
- Support the development and enhancement of accounting systems and processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Provide training and mentorship to junior staff, fostering a collaborative and knowledgeable team environment.
- Participate in client meetings to discuss fund performance, address inquiries, and provide insights on accounting matters.
- Prepare reports for internal management and stakeholders, summarizing fund performance and accounting activities.
- Ensure adherence to best practices in fund accounting and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the department.
- Stay updated on industry trends and developments to maintain a competitive edge in fund accounting services.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in fund accounting or a similar role within the financial services industry.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency in accounting software and tools, with experience in fund administration platforms preferred.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities effectively.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with clients and team members.
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality work under pressure.
Nice to have
- Professional certification such as CPA, CFA, or equivalent is highly desirable.
- Experience with alternative investment funds, including hedge funds or private equity.
- Familiarity with financial modeling and performance measurement metrics.
