Audience and Events Marketing Manager

About the role
You will architect and own the end-to-end audience strategy for Masters of Scale Summit and other flagship WaitWhat experiences, defining the attendee journey from initial awareness to post-event advocacy. You will build and nurture a high-value community by developing targeted outreach programs and strategic partnerships that expand our reach to diverse and influential voices in business and technology. This role requires you to collaborate closely with editorial and leadership teams to ensure that event content and guest speakers align with the bold, insightful narrative that defines WaitWhat's brand identity. You will leverage data and qualitative insights to refine marketing campaigns, increase conversion rates, and optimize the entire funnel for registration and retention. In addition, you will manage founder recruiting and guest engagement, ensuring that each event features a dynamic mix of innovators, executives, and cultural leaders who resonate with our audience. You will also coordinate with production and design teams to create cohesive marketing materials that communicate the value of each experience clearly and persuasively. Ultimately, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional attendee experiences that transform participants into long-term advocates for the WaitWhat ecosystem.

What you'll do
Develop and execute a comprehensive audience development strategy for Masters of Scale Summit and other WaitWhat live experiences, defining goals, timelines, and success metrics.
Build and maintain a high-quality email list and community segment, implementing segmentation and automation to increase engagement and conversion rates.
Partner with the editorial team to translate insights from WaitWhat podcast content and original research into compelling narratives that drive event registration.
Identify and cultivate relationships with potential partners, including media outlets, accelerators, and industry associations, to co-market events and expand reach.
Manage the full event funnel within our CRM, ensuring accurate tracking, timely follow-up, and optimization of the attendee journey from discovery to post-event engagement.
Coordinate with the design team to produce event-specific creative assets, including email campaigns, landing pages, and social promotions that maintain brand consistency.
Collaborate with leadership to define and prioritize founder and speaker recruitment efforts, ensuring a diverse and influential lineup for each experience.
Analyze campaign performance using data dashboards, conducting A/B tests on messaging, creative, and channels to improve ROI and registration yields.
Develop and manage event budgets, ensuring resources are allocated effectively across paid media, partnerships, and community-building initiatives.
Serve as the primary point of contact for event-related inquiries, guiding prospective attendees through the registration process and addressing concerns with a high-touch, service-oriented approach.
Maintain detailed documentation of processes, audience insights, and learnings to inform future events and enable scalable execution.
Work cross-functionally with production, editorial, and partnerships teams to align event themes, content distribution, and promotional calendars.
Represent WaitWhat at industry gatherings and virtual meetups, positioning the brand as a thought leader in event-driven community building.
Champion a culture of experimentation, testing new channels, formats, and creative approaches to grow a resilient and engaged audience over time.
Requirements
Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship, as the role is fully remote and U.S.-based.
Must reside in or be willing to relocate within the United States to ensure reliable collaboration and access to relevant local networks.
Must bring a proven track record of audience development, event marketing, or community management within the business, technology, or media sectors.
Must demonstrate expertise in email marketing, CRM tools, and marketing automation platforms, with a strong grasp of segmentation and lifecycle campaigns.
Must have experience managing high-conversion landing pages and optimizing funnels for registration, using data to inform iterative improvements.
Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft persuasive messaging for diverse executive and technical audiences.
Must be highly organized, comfortable managing multiple projects, deadlines, and stakeholders in a fast-paced, autonomous environment.
Must be comfortable working with remote teams and collaborating effectively across departments, including editorial, design, partnerships, and production.

Nice to have
Experience with hosting or producing live or virtual events in the business, technology, or media space.
Background in podcast marketing or a strong familiarity with audio content and distribution strategies.
Familiarity with partnership development and revenue-generating collaborations, including sponsor or affiliate programs.
Prior work with mission-driven media companies focused on business, entrepreneurship, or innovation.
Practical notes
This is a full-time, remote role based in the United States.
No visa sponsorship is available for this position at this time.
Hours are flexible, but full-time availability during standard business hours is required for collaboration and meetings.
Travel is not required for this role, though occasional in-person attendance at WaitWhat events may be considered for team alignment or special projects.
