What you'll do
Orchestrate end to end journeys for community dinners, summits, and leadership retreats, raising quality at every step.
Champion relationships with executives, general partners, and external figures, designing experiences that echo A16z standards.
Direct venue selection, vendor deals, and contracts, overseeing production for live and online events.
Lead communication rollouts, managing calendars, registration flows, and guest information with precise coordination.
Guide program flow from early research through execution, ensuring each event meets strategic goals and quality thresholds.
Coordinate schedules and materials for speakers and partners, keeping complex programs on track and on time.
Adapt plans between physical and digital formats, preserving engagement when audiences move across channels.
Track outcomes and feedback, iterating future gatherings so reputation and relationships keep improving over time.
Conduct deep analysis of attendee sentiment and operational metrics to inform data driven improvements.
Develop sophisticated content frameworks that translate complex ideas into compelling narratives for diverse audiences.
Negotiate high level vendor and partner agreements to secure optimal value and reliability for flagship initiatives.
Design and manage multi channel communication strategies that align with A16z brand guidelines and market positioning.
Evaluate emerging technologies and platforms to enhance virtual participation and hybrid event capabilities.
Collaborate closely with portfolio founders to create exclusive experiences that strengthen strategic relationships.
Requirements
You must hold at least five years of experience running complex events in varied settings.
You must be able to work in office settings sometimes while traveling across the listed locations.
You must handle logistics, contracts, and budgets without guidance for high stakes initiatives.
You must design and run programs that reflect brand values and strengthen key relationships consistently.
You must demonstrate a proven track record of managing simultaneous projects under tight deadlines.
You must possess strong written and verbal communication skills to articulate vision to senior stakeholders.
You must be comfortable making high impact decisions with limited direct oversight.
You must have experience mitigating risk and managing crisis situations during live events.
You must be able to navigate ambiguity and drive progress in a fast moving startup environment.

Practical notes
The preferred location for this role is San Francisco Bay Area, with consideration for New York City and required in-office presence.
