Senior Project Manager, Water Infrastructure

Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Project Manager to join our Water department in Columbus. The primary mission of this role is to lead and enhance our infrastructure initiatives. You will be responsible for steering critical water projects from initial concept to final delivery. Success in this position requires exceptional technical writing abilities and the capacity to coordinate calmly with various teams and stakeholders. The ideal candidate will translate broad civic objectives into practical, executable schedules while simultaneously safeguarding the team's focus. This ensures the development of durable, high-quality solutions for our community.

This position offers a flexible hybrid-remote work schedule. Remote work is available to eligible employees after the first thirty days of employment.

Key Responsibilities

Your daily duties will focus on managing the complete lifecycle of water infrastructure projects. You will conduct intake sessions with clients and internal subject matter experts. These meetings serve to clarify project scope and define definitive success metrics for each engagement.

You will then design and build comprehensive project plans. These plans will organize tasks, assign clear ownership, and establish specific checkpoints. The goal is to ensure that all engineering work remains transparent, traceable, and adheres to the established schedule.

A significant portion of your role will involve running structured review sessions. During these sessions, documentation, technical models, and construction drawings will be examined. The focus of these reviews will be on clarity, logical consistency, and compliance with all relevant standards and expectations.

You will also coordinate the transition of deliverables into operational use. This involves managing ship activities to confirm handoff procedures, user guidance documentation, and ongoing monitoring practices. also, you will establish and maintain partner routines with consultants, contractors, and government agencies. This ensures alignment regarding data formats, project timelines, and clear boundaries of responsibility.

Maintaining intake hygiene is another critical duty. You will capture risks, assumptions, and key decisions early in the project lifecycle. This proactive approach prevents costly rework and avoids misalignment of expectations as the project progresses.

Protecting the integrity of the build is essential. You will diligently track all design changes, manage version control, and oversee verification checks throughout the entire project lifecycle. You will also enable review quality by structuring effective feedback loops. This ensures that all comments are recorded, resolved, and tested before final acceptance is granted.

Compensation and Benefits

The target compensation range for this position is $130,000 to $160,000 annually.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or a closely related field. This educational background is the baseline qualification for this role.

You must bring five to ten years of experience managing technical projects within water-related sectors or comparable infrastructure fields. A proven track record in this domain is essential.

Strong written and verbal communication skills are non-negotiable. You must be able to help diverse stakeholders understand complex methods and tradeoffs effectively. Demonstrated self-direction is required, as you will work collaboratively with cross-functional colleagues in a hybrid remote setting.

A Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred. Obtaining this license demonstrates a strong commitment to practice standards and public safety.

This role is based in Columbus, Ohio. The engagement is full-time.
