About the role
Via is dedicated to transforming the transportation landscape on a global scale, with the goal of improving individual commuting experiences while minimizing environmental impact. We are initiating a significant project to revamp a transit service in Tulare, California, and are in search of a General Manager who can strategically envision the future of this service. This role involves overseeing daily operations with precision and leading a team through the complexities of this transformation.

What you'll do
- Develop and implement a comprehensive vision for the transit service, working closely with Via's central teams to achieve this objective.
- Create new operational frameworks, staffing models, and service schedules, while promoting a culture of accountability and excellence within the organization.
- Clearly communicate the narrative of change to your team, partners, and community stakeholders to ensure alignment and understanding of the new direction.
- Manage the overall operational strategy of Via's service, prioritizing punctuality, rider satisfaction, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
- Establish and track key performance indicators, transforming performance data into actionable strategies for operational improvement.
- Design and refine staffing and scheduling processes to ensure reliable service delivery at all times.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state, local, and corporate regulations.
- Recruit, mentor, and lead a frontline operations team, focusing on their development and performance management.
- Lead by example by being actively engaged in the field, interacting with drivers, and upholding high standards for both yourself and your team.
- Foster leadership qualities within your team to prepare them for growth opportunities as the service expands.
- Build and maintain trusting relationships with partners through consistent communication and transparent operational practices.
- Represent Via to community stakeholders, local authorities, and riders, embodying the values and mission of the operation.
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in managing complex operational environments is required.
- A bachelor's degree is essential for this position.
- Must be self-driven and capable of thriving in fast-paced environments with significant responsibilities.
- Excellent communication skills are necessary, with the ability to adapt tone and approach to suit various situations effectively.
- A strong commitment to fostering a culture that emphasizes outstanding customer service is crucial.
- Possess strong analytical skills, utilizing data to guide strategic decision-making rather than just reporting outcomes.
- Proven leadership capabilities, with a history of building cohesive and effective teams that work well together.

Practical notes
- This position is based in Tulare, CA, and requires a full-time commitment.
- The salary for this role will be determined based on the candidate's experience and qualifications, with a range of $140,000 to $175,000 per year.
