Lead Product Manager, Edge Products
Job description
About the Role
The role defines the leadership position for Verkada's edge product lines, centered on the Gateway product line and the hardware/software platform behind Security Trailers. You will own the full strategy and execution for connectivity solutions that bring network and power to any location, enabling physical AI deployment beyond traditional buildings. This position requires onsite work at Verkada's headquarters in San Mateo, California, within a thriving in-office culture. The mission is to make edge products the backbone of physical AI across remote and off-grid environments worldwide.
What You'll Do
You will define and own the product vision and roadmap for Verkada's Cellular and Wi-Fi Gateway product line and trailer platform. Responsibilities include growing and expanding the gateway portfolio with advanced reliability options, fleet-scale cloud management, and new form factors that deliver edge connectivity and power. You will deliver the trailer platform's core promise of continuous off-grid uptime with zero site infrastructure, optimizing solar, battery, and cellular intelligence until the trailer runs itself, then expand the platform into new form factors and use cases.
You will partner with product lines across Verkada - including remote cameras, security trailers, transportation, intercoms, and access - to deliver connectivity-as-a-service and drive ecosystem attach across the portfolio. Defining data plan and pricing strategy to provide easy, fast, and affordable data to customers across diverse use cases is a core responsibility. You will collaborate with engineering and design to craft reliable, deployable hardware and software solutions suited for harsh and remote environments.
The role involves analyzing customer and installer feedback to refine product features, reliability, and usability in real-world edge deployments. You will lead cross-functional initiatives with sales, support, and operations to ensure successful launches, pricing clarity, and customer satisfaction. Developing business cases, ROI models, and attach-rate analyses will guide strategic decisions and platform economics. You will champion craftsmanship and product details, ensuring edge products meet high standards of reliability, usability, and maintainability. Translating technical networking and power systems concepts into clear product requirements and documentation for the organization is essential. Continuously scanning the market and emerging technologies to identify opportunities and risks for the edge connectivity portfolio is also required.
What You Bring
The position requires 5+ years of experience in product management, preferably in B2B networking, connectivity, or IoT hardware. An undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a similar quantitative field is required, with MS, PhD, or MBA optional. A proven history of launching and scaling hardware and/or embedded systems products is necessary, with strong customer intuition, technical depth, and the ability to navigate tradeoffs critical to success.
You must be excited to roll up your sleeves and get out of the office, spending time with installers, integrators, and customers deploying in unwired environments and using those insights to shape the product. The ability to build platform and recurring-revenue business models is required, bringing a structured mindset to ambiguous problems including data plan pricing, carrier economics, attach-rate modeling, and ROI analysis.
You need the ability to lead across strategy and execution while sweating the details, demonstrating thoroughness and rigor in product decisions. A real passion for craftsmanship and product details - such as spending days retrofitting your house with the latest smart home technology - is essential. Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, including LTE/5G, Wi-Fi, WAN failover, and SIM/carrier management, is required. Strong understanding of power systems, including solar, batteries, and PoE, plus foundational knowledge of firmware, device bring-up, and hardware design, is also required.
Employee Benefits
Verkada is committed to competitive total compensation and benefits that include comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage, 401(k) with company match, paid time off, and paid parental leave. We provide the tools and environment to grow your career and impact alongside us as we redefine the future of physical AI.
