Engineering Manager, Agentic Workflows
Job description
About the role
At Verkada, we are redefining how organizations protect their people and places through an integrated, privacy-sensitive AI-powered platform. The role of Engineering Manager, Agentic Workflows is central to this mission. You will own the design and execution of an agentic workflow platform that directly enhances engineering productivity and system reliability. This position requires you to manage the end-to-end lifecycle of AI agents that automate critical engineering operations, transforming complex manual processes into autonomous, measurable workflows. You will define strategic direction for automation, determining which workflows deliver the highest leverage and how success is quantified in production environments. The role blends strategic oversight with hands-on prototyping to solve challenging integration problems across distributed systems. You will build and lead a focused team of engineers responsible for delivering robust agentic solutions that scale across Verkada's global footprint. Partnering closely with infrastructure and security teams, you will embed agents into core operational pipelines. This role demands strong written and verbal communication to align stakeholders and translate technical constraints into clear product decisions.
About the role facts
-
Location: USA
-
Engagement: Full-time.
-
Compensation: $170,000.00 - $230,000.00.
- Reports to strategic leadership within Infrastructure/DevX organization with a 0→1 charter.
- Responsibility for agentic systems that automate CI failure triage, autonomous deployments, incident response, and proactive bug detection.
- Scope includes reducing toil and enabling faster iteration across all engineering teams.
What you'll do
You will establish and own the roadmap for agentic workflow automation, prioritizing initiatives that drive measurable gains in engineering velocity and reliability. Your responsibilities include designing, prototyping, and delivering agentic systems that automate CI failure triage, autonomous deployments, incident response, and proactive bug detection across the organization. You will build and grow a high-impact team of engineers focused on agent frameworks, tool integration, and evaluation infrastructure. Implementing rigorous evaluation methodologies such as golden tasks, regression sets, replay mechanisms, and LLM-as-judge systems will be core to your quality assurance approach. Writing clear technical design documents and RFCs will ensure alignment, transparency, and long-term maintainability of agentic workflows. You will develop and maintain integrations with APIs, tools, and external services to enable reliable and secure agent execution beyond prompt-based interfaces. Collaboration with Infrastructure, Security, and DevX teams will be essential to embed agents into core engineering workflows while upholding stringent performance and security standards. You will champion engineering excellence by driving strong execution, code quality, and operational reliability across all agentic initiatives.
What you'll do facts
- Make every engineer more productive by eliminating repetitive workflows through AI agents.
- Define and own the agent roadmap: what to automate, in what order, and how to measure success.
- Build and lead a small, high-impact team of engineers.
- Contribute hands-on to prototyping, coding, and unblocking technical challenges.
- Establish evaluation frameworks for agent performance (golden tasks, regression sets, replay, LLM-as-judge).
- Partner closely with Infrastructure, Security, and DevX teams to integrate agents into core workflows.
- Drive high engineering standards through design docs, RFCs, and strong execution.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you will bring 7+ years of software engineering experience, with 2+ years in engineering management roles leading production systems. A demonstrated history of shipping production-grade systems is essential, including experience with agentic or automation-heavy workflows in complex environments. You must possess strong hands-on coding ability in Python, Go, or TypeScript, with the capacity to contribute directly to critical components when needed. Experience designing and building systems that integrate with APIs, tools, and external services is required, showing deep understanding of reliability, security, and observability. You should be able to define, track, and optimize key metrics for system and agent performance using data-driven decision making. A track record of writing concise, clear technical design documents and driving alignment across cross-functional stakeholders is necessary. Experience managing roadmaps, prioritization trade-offs, and stakeholder communication in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment is expected. Commitment to operating with high integrity, transparency, and ownership in all interactions with engineers and partners is mandatory.
