About the role
Verkada is seeking a technical expert to drive our expansion into the Fortune 500 market. You will collaborate with account executives to design security deployments and manage the technical sales process for our cloud-based physical security platform. In this capacity, you will act as the primary technical authority for the full Verkada product suite during every stage of the sales cycle. You will partner closely with executive stakeholders to translate complex business challenges into clear, secure, and scalable technology solutions. The role requires you to serve as a trusted advisor, addressing technical objections and de-risking deployments for large enterprise organizations. You will own the end-to-end technical narrative, ensuring that product capabilities align with client infrastructure and compliance requirements. This position demands a high level of ownership over solution design, documentation, and internal alignment to support rapid growth. Your work will directly influence the company's ability to win and retain business within the most competitive segments of the physical security industry.

What you'll do
- Assume the role of primary technical authority for the Verkada product suite throughout the entire sales engagement.
- Function as a trusted client advisor by resolving technical objections and guiding C-level and IT decision-makers toward informed choices.
- Orchestrate and deliver tailored solution presentations to diverse audiences, from infrastructure engineers to executive sponsors.
- Collaborate with account executives to define and refine territory strategies that align with market penetration goals.
- Architect deployment solutions that specify network security, bandwidth, and physical security hardware configurations for complex environments.
- Act as a key representative of Verkada at industry conferences, contributing to the company's thought leadership and market visibility.
- Facilitate knowledge transfer sessions for internal teams, external partners, and customers regarding new product features and platform updates.
- Produce high-impact artifacts such as white papers and detailed knowledge base articles that support sales and technical workflows.
- Operate across domestic and international locations, with travel expectations exceeding 50% of time for meetings and team collaboration.
- Evaluate and validate customer infrastructure requirements to ensure compatibility with Verkada's cloud and edge architecture.
- Lead proof-of-concept exercises and technical trials that demonstrate the value and feasibility of Verkada solutions.
- Coordinate with internal engineering and product teams to relay feedback and influence future platform enhancements.
- Maintain strict adherence to security and compliance standards during the design and implementation of client deployments.
- Support the creation of technical proposals and responses to security questionnaires as part of the enterprise sales process.
Requirements
- Hold a Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related networking/security field.
- Bring a minimum of 5 years of experience in Sales Engineer roles with a demonstrated focus on Fortune 500 account engagements.
- Exhibit expert-level understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, HTTPS/SSL, firewalls, and NAT.
- Possess strong written and verbal communication skills in English, enabling clear articulation of technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Demonstrate the ability to work independently and effectively within a remote, fast-paced, and constantly evolving environment.
- Show an entrepreneurial mindset characterized by ownership, resilience, and a drive for continuous learning and improvement.
- Maintain the capacity to manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.
- Comply with company policies and professional standards while representing Verkada in external interactions and client settings.
Nice to have
- Hands-on experience with Linux systems and command-line administration in enterprise environments.
- Background within a startup environment where rapid iteration and cross-functional collaboration are common.
- Current industry certifications such as AWS, CCNA, CCDA, CCNP, MCSE, CEH, Security+, A+, or Network+.
Practical notes
- You must be independently authorized to work in the United States; the company cannot provide or transfer employment visa sponsorship.
- Compensation consists of a base salary and commissions, with potential eligibility for discretionary bonuses and equity in the form of RSUs.
