What you'll do

• Provide expert legal advice on a wide range of commercial agreements, including licensing, partnership, and vendor contracts, ensuring they align with Udemy's business goals.
• Oversee compliance with global privacy laws and regulations, such as GDPR and CCPA, to protect user data and uphold our commitment to privacy.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product, engineering, and marketing, to assess legal risks and develop strategies that support innovative projects.
• Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial agreements, ensuring clarity and protection of Udemy's interests.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and admission to practice law in Ireland or another relevant jurisdiction.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial law and privacy, preferably within the technology sector or a related field.
• Strong understanding of global privacy laws, including GDPR, CCPA, and other relevant regulations.
• Proven experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts and agreements.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide practical legal solutions.
• Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• A proactive approach to identifying legal risks and implementing effective strategies to mitigate them.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Nice to have

• Experience in the e-learning or technology industry is a plus.
• Familiarity with data protection impact assessments (DPIAs) and risk assessments.
