Product Specialist
Job description
About the role
This role owns the end-to-end user journey inside Udemy's learning platform and is responsible for turning raw signals from support tickets and stakeholder requests into clear product actions. You will partner closely with engineering and marketing teams to prioritize work that advances current company goals while steadfastly protecting the learner experience. As you grow in this position, you will lead higher-impact initiatives and communicate strategy to leaders across product, support, and engineering functions. You will act as a learner advocate, ensuring that platform changes reflect real user needs and behavioral insights. This position requires comfort with ambiguity and the ability to synthesize complex information into simple, actionable steps. You will play a key role in aligning cross-functional teams around a shared vision for the learning experience. Over time, this role will develop your ability to influence without direct authority and drive measurable improvements in user outcomes.
Key facts
What you'll do
You will conduct user interviews and analyze support tickets to uncover friction points and improvement opportunities in the learning journey. You will design lightweight experiments and data tracking mechanisms to validate hypotheses before committing to major builds or platform changes. You will draft detailed product requirements and user stories that translate ambiguous problems into actionable tasks for engineering teams. You will coordinate with customer support and sales departments to align on priorities and surface urgent issues that require immediate attention. You will translate platform metrics and qualitative feedback into compelling narratives that guide roadmap decisions for executive stakeholders. You will build and maintain workflows that connect user insights directly to engineering execution and measurable business outcomes. You will evaluate third-party tools and integrations to determine if they solve identified problems without introducing unnecessary complexity to the platform. You will own documentation and release notes so that all stakeholders clearly understand what changed and why those changes matter to learners.
Requirements
You must have at least 3 years of experience working directly with user feedback and support data to inform product decisions. You must be fluent in English to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences across distributed teams. You must analyze both quantitative and qualitative data to extract meaningful insights and communicate them in a memorable and actionable way. You must advocate for customer needs across functions and influence stakeholders effectively without relying on direct authority. You must demonstrate strong ownership and accountability for product outcomes, even when working on complex, multi-team initiatives. You must be comfortable working within a fast-paced environment where priorities can change quickly based on learner needs and business demands. You must maintain a learner-first mindset and ensure that every decision considers the impact on the user experience.
