About the role
Uber Freight is looking for a lead product manager to oversee the systems that manage carrier supply, fraud prevention, and network quality. You will balance the need for rapid carrier onboarding with rigorous risk mitigation to ensure a reliable and efficient logistics marketplace. In this capacity, you will own the end-to-end lifecycle of critical marketplace components, defining the vision and execution strategy for tools that underpin trust and efficiency. You will act as the central orchestrator, aligning cross-functional teams to deliver solutions that enhance both supply-side resilience and user confidence. The role requires a strategic thinker who is comfortable navigating ambiguity while maintaining a strict focus on operational reliability. You will leverage emerging technologies to solve complex problems, ensuring that the platform remains robust in the face of evolving threats. Success in this position will be measured by the stability and growth of the marketplace network, as well as the quality of the user experience for partners.

What you'll do
- Conduct discovery sessions with internal stakeholders to map the current state of carrier interactions and identify friction points in the onboarding workflow.
- Architect the product specifications for a new fraud detection module, outlining data requirements, user flows, and integration points with existing systems.
- Synthesize findings from data analysis and user interviews to draft a prioritized product backlog that addresses network quality and scalability challenges.
- Develop a comprehensive product roadmap that aligns with business objectives, outlining milestones, dependencies, and resource allocation for the next two quarters.
- Design and manage a suite of A/B experiments to validate hypotheses around carrier behavior, ensuring rigorous methodology and clear success metrics.
- Build interactive dashboards using SQL and visualization tools to monitor key performance indicators related to supply health and fraud rates.
- Translate complex technical constraints into clear requirements for the engineering team, facilitating scoping discussions and tradeoff analysis.
- Present strategic initiatives to executive leadership, crafting narratives that highlight impact, risk mitigation, and return on investment.
- Implement machine learning prototypes to streamline the analysis of unstructured data, accelerating the identification of potential compliance issues.
- Establish a feedback loop with operations and support teams to ensure that product solutions are solving real-world problems effectively.
- Define and track success metrics for new features, iterating based on performance data and qualitative user feedback.
- Collaborate with design partners to create intuitive user interfaces that reduce cognitive load for carriers and internal reviewers.
- Lead the documentation of product decisions, ensuring that the rationale behind key choices is preserved for future reference.
- Partner with data science teams to validate model outputs, ensuring that algorithmic predictions align with business rules and user expectations.
- Maintain a living document of product requirements that details acceptance criteria, edge cases, and testing protocols for the development team.
Requirements
- Minimum 4+ years of experience in product management for scalable, high-impact products.
- Demonstrated ability to perform independent data analysis, including writing SQL queries to extract insights and validate hypotheses.
- Proven capability to apply AI research strategies to solve complex product problems and evaluate emerging technologies.
- Strong aptitude for understanding marketplace dynamics, including supply-side and demand-side interactions.
- Demonstrated ability to blend user research with quantitative data to define product priorities and resolve ambiguity.
- Experience navigating enterprise-level stakeholder environments, managing competing priorities, and driving decisions without direct authority.
- Proficiency in using data analytics and experimentation frameworks to inform product decisions and measure impact.
- Willingness to engage in hands-on work, including writing requirements, reviewing technical designs, and validating product assumptions through testing.
Nice to have
- Practical experience building machine learning models, specifically for risk and compliance applications.
- Proven track record in designing and managing A/B tests or other experimentation frameworks.
- Experience presenting to and influencing executive-level stakeholders.
