This position is a critical consulting engagement with a defined term of six to nine months. The primary focus is the end-to-end management of payroll operations for our Swedish entity. You will serve as the central owner for the payroll workflow, ensuring a seamless flow of data and compliance from initial input to final execution. Success in this role demands a high level of ownership, precision, and the ability to navigate complex regulatory requirements.
A core responsibility involves close collaboration with the People team and other relevant departments to maintain current and accurate payroll documentation. You will be the guardian of our Swedish payroll cycle, managing the complete process for salaries, bonuses, commissions, and other forms of compensation. This includes meticulous management of the payment workflow, the preparation of accurate payslips, and the submission of reports to tax authorities. Ensuring strict adherence to all applicable labour and local tax regulations is a non-negotiable duty.
You will also act as a liaison with external providers responsible for payroll processing in other European jurisdictions. This requires ensuring the precise and timely transfer of information, enabling these partners to execute their end-to-end responsibilities effectively. A key part of this coordination is the review of final reports to verify that all modifications have been implemented correctly, that reports are approved within deadlines, and that payments have been successfully processed.
Compliance and control form the backbone of this position. You will oversee all statutory filings, including tax payments and social security contributions. Year-end reporting requirements will be managed with rigorous attention to audit standards. also, you will direct all payroll-related journal entries and reconcile payroll accounts. This ensures that general ledger entries are accurate and that funding, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations align perfectly.
The role also encompasses the administration of employee benefits and expenses where applicable. You will ensure these items receive the correct payroll treatment, maintaining alignment with company policies and reporting standards. To drive operational excellence, you will utilize system data and reporting to monitor key payroll performance indicators. Analyzing this data will allow you to identify trends, drive continuous improvement, and enhance accuracy, timeliness, and overall efficiency.
About the Position
You will manage the complete payroll journey from initial intake through to final execution. This role requires the handling of complex calculations and coordination across multiple teams. The goal is to maintain the highest level of accuracy and compliance for Swedish operations, ensuring that every payment cycle proceeds without issue and that all reports meet internal expectations for precision and timeliness.

Key Responsibilities
1. Manage the intake and validation of payroll data and timesheet information for the current cycle.
2. Design and test changes to compensation rules with external providers prior to go-live.
- Review payslips and reports to verify the correct application of bonuses and commissions.
4. Coordinate with external partners to ensure accurate data transfer and timely execution for other European payrolls.
5. Ensure compliance with tax regulations through the oversight of statutory filings, social security, and year-end documentation.
6. Direct journal entries and reconciliations for payroll accounts to maintain general ledger accuracy.
- Verify that benefits and expenses are processed according to policy and recorded correctly.
8. Analyze system reports to track payroll KPIs and propose adjustments for improved accuracy and speed.
Requirements
- Possess a minimum of three years of experience in payroll or finance operations specific to Sweden.
- Hold a solid understanding of Swedish tax legislation and the associated reporting obligations for payroll.
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in English with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Exhibit the capability to manage multiple deadlines while maintaining strict attention to detail within a regulated environment.
